Templeton Rye....

There was just a distiller's convention at the hotel where I work and I met the guys from Templeton, Iowa that make the stuff. Story goes that it was Al Capone's beverage of choice during Prohibition "the good stuff" and he used to have train loads brought in to Chicago. It is being remade using the original recipe and I was fortunate enough to get a bottle of "small batch" as a gift. Anyone know anything about Templeton?

wheregreggeats.com How was it ??? I'm saving it for a special friend from W. Mass. Seriously, I have not cracked the bottle. More to come.....I also have a bottle of 18 year old Flora de Cana Rum from Nicaragua that is also cluttering up my liquor cabinet.

I'm currently living about 10 miles from Templeton Iowa! There are big signs on your way into town announcing the annual Templeton Days festival, which I suppose celebrates the infamous beverage!

Hey, I got a bottle of my own! Being an Iowa boy by birth, it's in our code to have a wee nip a couple times a year. I get mine at John's Grocery in Iowa City, IA.
