That's a good idea JeepGuy - we will probably be adding more forums once everything stabilizes.

I just found this thread and I thought this would be a good place to ask.....what's the chance of a system by which, when subscribing to a topic, the subscriber would receive only 1 email notification of a thread's new response? Pizzamaking.com does this and it sure is more convenient. I get 1 notification and no more until I respond to the 1st one. pb

That option is available to you in your control panel PB. Just set it to provide the level of reminders you wish for each thread.

Sure. Log in and go to User Control Panel and select Profile. Then select Preferences. Scroll about half way down the page until you get to Subscription Preference and set your preferences. Once you're done, be sure to scroll to the bottom of the page and save

If a tree falls in the forest does it make a sound if no one is around to hear it? I noticed Buffetbuster just updated his list in the message thread These are the places I visited on Roadfood and it showed up as new and you go to it on page 3 of 6. The new board doesn't indicate anything when an old message is edited. So, if Buffetbuster updates his list will anyone know if there is no notification?

Looks good, except for one thing: What's the logic in Lunch/Dinner forums? Goes from soup to mexican to chicken to international to seafood. I don't get it. (PS: Just a thought, I am still frustrated by the recent change of focusing lunch/dinner on restaurants. There is so much to say about food items, and I feel they get buried in the misc. food category because it is such a "catch-all". I used to enjoy, for example, discussing all sorts of Mexican food issues under "Mexican" or International under "International."....)

Yes, you can see that a post has been edited but when you go to the forum and select Forum Menu > Posts since last visit or Today's post an edited posting is not indicated or shown to go to like it is in this old forum when you select Active Topics. So if someone edits a post buried in a several page thread no one will know it without browsing through every page in the thread and looking for the fine print at the bottom of the post. In this old forum Buffetbuster, wanderingjew and others like to go back to posts they created in previous years and update their listings of restaurants. When I sign on I can see the thread is listed under active topics and click on the last post and go directly to it even if buried in an earlier page. That works unless someone posts a totally new message in that thread.

Good point Davydd - Let me see if I can get that one resolved. In other news, I made a big update to the design of the forum. It is a little closer to the current one.

I'm surprised I made it this far to be able to post. Yes Stephen, I will give it some time, but here is what I am missing the most. There used to be a toolbar across the top of the page when you were reading a thread and the one that was labeled ACTIVE TOPICS did two things. It let you select a time frame for how far back you wanted to view all new posts and it also displayed all new posts in sorted by the familiar categories. This is how I used the forums. I could see all active threads since I was last on the site. Where can I find this feature now?

When you click there a menu drops down and one option is to see posts from last visit. Once on that page you can change time/date/etc since "last visit". I do note that rather than giving posts in the categories, as it used to, it just provides a list of all these posts...not necessarily arranged according to the area where they were made (ie: in the BBQ section)

The active topics should only give one message per thread - that is something I am looking into.

How did my name become Michael O'Reilly in the changeover? I am sorry, but all members will have to assume new identities they received in transfer. Not sure how names and locations were changed. Mine was Fred, which I kind of liked...but I changed it. I may change it back. I also see I am going to get to celebrate my 3000th post again...I am hoping for some cash gifts in recognition this time! To change your name, location, etc...go to the "USER CONTROL" button at center top of page and select profile from drop down menu.

Took me awhile to find the login box. Then nothing would work in the quick reply box. It's now obviously working! The graphics are a little light colored for me, but I always like when you try to make things better for us. Now to get used to it! Thanks!

did we all lose several hundred posts? You can no longer click on the RF logo to get back "home".

Issue #3: Shrinking images. In this thread http://www.roadfood.com/Forums/tm.aspx?m=466179&high= I posted scans of the restaurant menu, which I had adjusted to 800 pixel width. The new forum shrinks it to unreadability. Incidentally, you can see an example of a busted embedded link close to the menu image.

I'm not trying to be too critical but so far I am not a fan of it. As some mentioned above I also always pull up the active topics and scan them several times a day. I ilike that they were separated into the categories. When I searched active topics today it was just pages of seemingly random topics. They didn't even seem to be in order of the last update. It will take some getting used to but I did really like the old active topic format.
