Texas BBQ Blog - Wed, 11/17/04 3:08 AM ( #1 )
A friend of mine just started a food blog and is doing a survey of Texas BBQ. He hit Central Texas recently and is now trying to find good BBQ in Dallas. (Tougher than it should be.)

Check it out:

Here are some of the reports he's done. He just put up some new stuff. There are a ton of pics. I'll post a couple below. If you're interested in Texas BBQ, you're missing out by not reading them. I'm impressed with how much he's doing in such a short period:

Elgin, Taylor, West (includes Mueller's and Southside Market -- and others):

Lockhart (includes Smitty's, City Market, Black's, and Kreuz's):

DFW Part 1 (includes Sonny Bryan's, Railhead, and Angelo's):

DFW Part 2 (includes North Main, Lee's, Carter's, and Walker's):

DFW Part 3 (includes Holy Smoke's, Peggy Sue's, and Baker's):

I agree. That Bushie fellow is intelligent, full of knowledge, an experienced traveler, and I'm told he's quite good-looking.

Baker's Ribs on Commerce Street in the Deep Ellum section of Downtown... a MUST for ribs and brisket! Cheap long necks, too. I can't emphasize this place enough!

Did you read the report on Baker's? Brisket sounded like it was mediocre and the ribs were good, but not smokey, possibly par-boiled:

For anyone interested in Texas barbecue, Full Custom Gospel BBQ is the best blog out there right now.  The bloggers are based in Dallas, so there's more coverage of north Texas; but they travel far and wide throughout the state.
