Thanksgiving in New York City

The wife and I are going to New York for Thanksgiving. We'll be staying in the Rockefeller Center area and we're interested in the best places to eat.

We're planning on having Thanksgiving dinner at the Algonquin Hotel (beacause I just like that hotel) but I'm open to suggestions for other eateries in the midtown/Central Park area.

Question: Is it possible to spend less than $150-$200 for a nice meal in NYC?

for a great Tuscan dinner try a place called Beppe on 22nd street, it is a great meal with most stuff cooked over a wood fired grill. If you like pizza go to Lombardis , 32 Spring street , it was the first pizza place in NY and definitly one of the best.

Il Vagabondo's, which I think is around E.62nd and 2nd Ave is a Roadfood type of place. You walk through the kitchen to get to the dining area. There is also a Bocce Ball court right inside the restaurant! Food is good and reasonably priced.

I personally had Thanksgiving dinner with my family a few years ago at The Tavern On The Green. It is located on the southwest part of Central Park. The restaurant is both huge and beautiful. It is extremely festive. I have attached their web site for your review. I thought their food was wonderful.

Thanks, but we ate at Tavern on the Green last year for our anniversary. We laughed when we read a review of the place that said it was "an ok place to go if you want to eat overpriced food with out of towners." Well, we were seated next to a New York couple (also celebrating their anniversary) and had a nice chat. And dinner was great.

Our current plan is to have Thansksgiving dinner at the Algonquin Hotel. Because we just like the place.

Has anyone got an opinion on Grimaldi's Pizza in NYC? I've heard it's great.
