Our very generous Fried Bologna sandwich with fried onions, with optional melted cheddar, and some seriously tasty Onion rings, what think ye?

It looks mighty good -- but. And the but has to do with the fact that I prefer my fried bologna sandwiches with just one thick (about three quarters of an inch) slice of bologna. Of course with cheese it it goes from what I learned in West Virginia to be a Hillbilly Hambuger to a Hillbilly Cheeseburger.

Hey it looks great but this is what I am having next time I come up to your place. Darn do not know how to show the picture Anyway, it is the Texas style sausage with that wonderful sauce you serve with it. One of my favorite Roadfood dishes, ever!

That sandwich is a stunner. Wish I could get something like that here. Guess I'll have to build it myself.

Of course with cheese it it goes from what I learned in West Virginia to be a Hillbilly Hambuger to a Hillbilly Cheeseburger. I wonder if it tastes any different, I'll try it out, this way takes less time frying on the flat top...BTW I like Ketchup on mine, really!

Never heard of fried bologna until day one in the US Navy. Luncheon was served a la "get in line and take what ya get". Fried bologna and whatever-------never had it since those good old days serving Our Country----didn't know it still existed. I'll take that hero Sam-itch whose portrait was on here a few days ago instead.

Michael, what are you from the HillBilly part of New Haven, everyone knows fried Bologna is thin slices, fried, Wonder bread and mustard. Shame on you Mr Hoffman, no Frisbie pie for you for dessert.......

Ah, no. I first ran into Hillybilly hamburgers in Charleston, West Virginia when I was working at a radio station there. I'd never heard of frying bologna before then -- for any purpose. Salami is a different story. Lots of salami and eggs in New Haven.

Now that is a serious sandwich CTF, a great deal in any book of Roadfood eateries. Any negative thoughts on scarfing down one of these, should keep a person out of Roadfood restaurants.

Michael Hoffman Well, at $7.99 I won't make the trip from Ohio. And if not for some football games today I'd head up to Waldo for a fried bologna sandwich at the G&R Tavern. http://www.roadfood.com/Restaurant/Reviews/4793/gr-tavern For you, $6.99, said with a New York Jewish deli owner accent!

I've been thinking which is a scary thing in itself... How would your grill look if 4 people ordered that same sandwich?

Try the BBQ bologna sandwich at Interstate BBQ in Memphis--It is one extremely thick slice of bologna. Yummy!!! Maybe even better than the BBQ.
