-We're thinking of having our budgie put down.
--Oh, is he very old, then?
-No, we just don't like him.

With my phone modem connection,I should be able to see this movie sometime tomorrow...

It was hatching time in my backyard this week, and I'm in the middle of some noisy cardinal-vs-house wren throwdown. Wish I could understand bird so I'd know what was going on.

One Bluebird couple is standing off several wren groups for ownership of the front-porch birdhouse. One of the backyard houses has been overrun by the wrens...so the bluebirds are fighting a surging tide of what they consider 'illegals'. I enjoy watching the 'reality' show the birds put up in our yard.

Sorry, BT, I don't have the patience for the very long download at 44000 kbs that is my best available speed here in Hoosier land.

I caught the video right away but then again, I'm in high tech ALASKA!

Of course we still have the pair of nesting eagles behind our harbor in Whittier. Janet (Mrs. Mayor) took pictures of them last summer. Just a bunch of white heads and beaks poking out of the nest now.

That was a nice video! Thanks for sharing.. Only thing close to them little tweetys around here are my little group of yellow (and 2 red) finchs. (Along with the Chickadees, Robins and their youngins, Blue Jays (not lately, Robins been kicking them out of the backyard due to the youngins), That elusive 2 foot tall Red Headed woodpecker that I've only caught site of twice in the last year, the little normal sized woodpeckers, 3 groups of morning doves and the bat that swoops at me when I use the backyard in the middle of the night for a nature call..

I was sitting on a neighbors porch Friday evening and we watched a mocking bird repeatedly attack a squirrel that was trying to climb it's tree.

I wonder if that bird had been reading the squirrel receipe thread

Please send that mocking bird down to Florida to my Mom's place. She's got a screened porch and a couple of squirrels who repeatedly climb (thereby damaging) the screens. Even her cat's afraid of them.

I have a metal pecker. He sits on my metal chimney cap and calls his lover. He is afraid of golf balls but is incapable of taking a hint..
