The COUNTER , great burger joint !!

Date visited : Aug. 8th, 2009, while in L.A./San Diego for a weeks vacation..
I visited this new location in EL SEGUNDO , CA, (about 3 miles from LAX and the beach)
It's in a brand new outdoor shopping center that opened less than a year ago.(Whole Foods Market, Barnes and Noble, etc
There are a few dozen or so COUNTER locations around the country now, mostly in CA.
(original COUNTER burger is in Santa Monica).   
 COUNTER, El Segundo, CA  (southern Cal.!!)
 
I ordered the 2/3 pound burger..(there is a 1/3 pound burger as well)
I received sundried tomatoes, but did not order them... (the joint still has some kinks to work out)
I love their sauteed onions...
Great CHARBROILED taste; all burgers are cooked MEDIUM, unless you tell them otherwise...(I stuck to their medium, cause this burger was so thick... and I played it right, cause I got a real nice amount of pink, but yet the burger was still real hot

My nearest one (so far) is in West Hartford, CT....
So in the 5 hours or so it would take me to get up to CT, I could almost be back at the L.A. location!
Hey, BLUEMAXX, this COUNTER burger is as excellent as the one I had with you at the Counter location in Royal Palm Beach, which unfortunately closed (and it was the only one in FL!)

I'm sure the Mods will move it if they want to....

Have been to the one in West Hartford several times - I love the pick-and-choose menu, and the burgers have been consistently great. Cooked perfectly, nice fresh condiments/sides, and they have excellent sweet potato fries!

I understand pointing out glaring issues or inappropriate posts, but Ellen's subject matter certainly fit the heading.
Personally, I was happy to come upon the post when I clicked on "hamburgers".

It's about a chain's hamburgers. Thus, it belongs in the chains section.

This is the third thread you have posted this photo (of the half-eaten burger) to within a few days. I think you have 'overexposed' the image. Multiple repeated entries are discouraged on this site, as you well know.
 
As an example. Farmer Boys, my favorite FF chain anywhere, is a small chain in SoCal..35-40 stores. That makes it a CHAIN, not a burger joint  per se. We have had this discussion on the site many times over the years, and the leadership has been clear about the rules. The new members are encouraged to read those rules before sticking their foot in their 'post'. Repeated violations will mean loss of posting priviliges.

That  Counter Burger has been "coming soon" to Philadelphia for over a year now...
(wish it would "arrive" already!!)
 
I posted this "half eaten" burger on one other thread, WJ's thread...
I don't personally consider this a fast food chain , of sorts, as they use fresh ground beef , and there are only a few dozen or so locations..
(but they do use frozen french fries)

Ellen, I would not consider it a fast food chain  but it is inded  a chain restaurant with all those locations.

It sort of reminds me of a chain (regional) in our area called  Ledo's Pizza.  Most people around here really like it.  Our family happens not to like it at all.

Thats why I compared it to Farmer Boys in my other post. I consider FB's as a must stop whenever I am in SoCal and their burgers (among other choices) are outstanding. They are mentioned on this forum due to the growth from a family run business to a franchise operation. All I can do is hope they won't lose their quality as they expand!

I have no doubt that 'Counter' is a great place and hopefully its other stores are maintaining the level of quality!

Good point, Mayor Al, since all too often the level of quality goes down as the chain gets bigger  (particularly if there are a few oddball locations away from the home base)
 
Hey, Al, regarding my "overexposure":  That  bitten burger was'nt on 3 threads  ....(as it was NOT on my "Mar52 and I" report)   (just my TOPS burger was on the Mar52 thread)
I only posted it TWICE, but it sounds like it was twice too MUCH !  (my bad)
It can be tough keeping up with me and my burgers, lol .... 
  
I just thought "Hamburger" when I made my forum choice....
that was just the first thing that came to mind...
I hear you, GREYMO, about your saying it's not  fast food, but still a CHAIN none the less...

Thanks , John A...!    As you can see, it was all about the BURGER for me ....
 Note the absence of FRIES in my pics...
I was rebelling a little, cause their fries are frozen, according to the waiter...
(even though their sweet potato fries are decent, I believe a place like that with such a strong BURGER, should also have FRESH CUT fries...)
I figured I'd save my appetite for other munchies for later that day!
 

Burger doesnt look done to me.I like a little pink,but thats rare.

Superb choice Mayor, I am a fan of Famer Boy's, an outstanding chain for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I also like to a lesser extent another Inland Empire FF chain, Baker's.
 
For the uninformed the Inland Empire is the area east of Los Angeles, San Bernadino, Riverside, Moreno Valley, Redlands, it sits about half way between L A and Palm Springs
