Does anyone remember a Restaurant chain called The Clock. There were a few locations in the Detroit area, but I don't know if there any outside it. It was a full service diner with a menu kind of like Big Boy's, only a little more shabby and funkier. The also had those little jukeboxes by your table. The last one I've been to was in Royal Oak, (Main and 11, It's now a Middle Eastern place.)

The one in Grand Rapids only closed because it burned down about five years ago. It was the epitome of greasy drunk breakfast...something those who swear by Denny's can only dream of.

Liked the movie by that name with Judy Garland and Robert Walker, but never heard of the restaurant.

I have memories of them and often wondered how big of a chain they were...I remmeber one on Mack in St. Clair Shores where I grew up and another on Gratiot in Roseville I think.

We still have a few open down here in Florida. Your description of their "decor" remains pretty accurate. Closest one to QFan is in nearby Naples on US 41. There may also be one still open in Ft Myers. QFan Bonita Springs, FL

There are 'clock's in the Greenville/Spartanburg, SC area, or am I thinking of something else?

I think there was one on South Blvd. near Woodlawn or Tyvola in Charlotte. I never was inside. It's gone for several months and there's something else there now. Don't know if it was part of the chain or not. Maybe someone just borrowed the name.

There was a chain in Southern California in the '50 called The Clock. Bob's Big Boy bought up most of their locations.

I made a mistake. While driving in this morning, I actually saw "The Clock." It's still there. It was another restaurant that closed. Looks like they have a drive-through. It's on South Blvd., jusr south of Tyvola in Charlotte.
