The Daytona Pig Stand BBQ

For any of your traveling through Central Florida, this place is right off the Interstate (I-95) and worth a stop. Aside from Tom Jenkin's in Ft. Lauderdale, it's right up there with the best of the rest that we have to offer in the Sunshine State.

Try their St. Louis ribs with a wonderful side of mac n cheese. It's all good.

See update below...On the 5th visit..It was not good. So, I cannot recommend it at this point.

peg and i ate there today 12/23.
the sliced brisket was moist and not overcooked.
the chopped pork was also moist but a little oversmoked but very good none the less.
fries were great as was the mac and cheese.
smokers appeared to be southern pride which for my money is probably the best commercial pit going.

Man I saw the billboards for this place last week while driving home from Disney. Sure wish I'd read this 2 weeks ago. We would have stopped.

Oops..Sorry Bluemaxx..It is in Ormond Beach..It's my home town. Oh, well. Glad you guys all liked it. I was there again last week and everything was still good. I took five friends and we had a waitress serve us which was nice. Normally, you go to the counter, order and pay. You then find a seat and they will bring it to you.

If you trust me with this recommendation, then try three other places that are definitely in Daytona Beach...The Brickyard Lounge for a wonderful burger, Leahann's for really good Chinese and Pete's for pizza. That's about all we got in this area folks.

Nice car roadfoodfan....Hope you liked it, too

Well, it's finally happened. On my 5th trip to this place, it was not good. Yes, the sides were still very, very good (mac n cheese and slaw) but I had to return my St. Louis ribs. They were terrible. And, the replacement was no better. I just ate them as I was with 4 other guys and I recommended the place. Two of my friends got the baby backs and they liked them. One guy got the pulled pork and two of us got the St. Louis ribs.

So, I am no longer recommending this place. I'll give it one mor etry and that's it. I am also going to write to the manager.

Ben sorry for the bad ribs. You should've said something, they try to be accommodating to their customers. As you can tell by my handle I used to work there, never had ribs until I tried theirs. Definitely the best. Also try the banana pudding.

I still have not tried this place and I doubt I will. I trust Baah Ben too much. Besides, I woudl rather camp out at The Brickyard and also hit Inlet Harbor too. Just my .02 cents

Is this the place that has the "smoke" coming off of sign? If so, I've passed it going to Daytona. I guess now I'm glad I didn't stop.

Rusty - It is the place with the smoke coming out of the sign. Hey, I am going to try it one more time by myself. This way, if I am not happy, I can complain without anyone else dining with me feeling uncomfortable. It was so good the 4 previous times I was there that I just feel I have to go one more time. Maybe it was just one bad day.

Maxx - thanks for your confidence in my opinion. I do take great responsibility before recommending a place. Nothing more aggravating than going to a restaurant and having a lousy meal. Before the Internet, that happened to all of us too often. Now the dining public has a fighting chance to avoid lousy places by checking with sites like this one.

Former Piggy - I actually sort of said something..I asked for a new order and they came back worse than the first order. What I did not do is make a scene and ask for the Manager..That's what I should have done. Incidently, I have always found the waitresses to be terrifc at this place.

Ben, again I'm sorry you had a bad experience. If you don't like it this time ask for Debra, she's the Restraurant Manager, make you tell her a former server guarenteed everything would be fine. The waitresses are good people. Wish I was still there to make sure everything goes okay. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
