Here's an instance where I agree with President Obama:  playoffs!

#1 plays #4, #2 plays #3; the winners play for the title.

I really don't feel the world is holding its breath to see who wins FSU v. Duke or Auburn vs. Mizzou.

Ixnay on these "Conference Championships"; just play 'em off!

Oh, and Calvin Murphy, who played his high school basketball at Norwalk in Connecticut, didn't play for Buffalo. He went to Niagara.

You are correct, Sir.  At least I had the Metro area right!

Interesting long story made short:
In the Spring of 1968 I was one of a dinner party of five prior to a speech given that evening at Grove City College.  The other four were Bob Richards, a PR rep from General Mills (Wheaties), Myron Cope, and my father-in-law.

Turned out Cope was interviewing Richards for a future feature story in SI (which I link to here).  Among the chit-chat about modern equipment (e.g., fiberglass poles) and the modern athlete I brought up Calvin Murphy being able to dunk a baskerball.  Richards insisted that I was crazy, maintaining that no man of such short stature could do that!

If FSU and tOSU win this coming week there will be no controversy as to who should be playing in the BCS title game. Everyone had their chance and the one game losers blew it. That's the way it goes. I'd be shocked if FSU lost to Duke but not if tOSU lost to MSU. That game is not a lock by any means. If tOSU were to lose and Auburn wins this week then it will be an FSU vs. Auburn title. But then if FSU, tOSU and Auburn all lose it will get really interesting again and my brain can not process what would happen then right now but there are no other Pac 12 or B1G teams deserving to be in the title game that last scenario should happen.

Don't you mean TOSU?  That's the way "they" say it (pronounced THEE).

(My alma mater is simply The University (pronounced "Thuh").
No emphasis necessary, just a simple statement of fact that is understood by every Virginian - even those who went to the identity-confused VPI  VPISU  Virginia Tech).

In fact, it is The Ohio State University.

But not their pro players; they almost all say THEE.

The relatively rare several from The University simply say "Virginia" or " 'Thuh' University of Virginia".

I always enjoyed the Barber twins - they'd alternate versions or, at times, even credit their high school in Roanoke.  It is a little known fact that they have together given Mr. Jefferson's 'Academikal' Village contributiond that total in the seven figures.  Class acts.

When they do the Pro  Player introductions on TV and the players read the Queue Cards with their schools on them, the only one I VIVIDLY remember is Otis Sistrunk - University of Mars!

The Oakland Raiders signed him in 1972, at which time he became the only active player in the NFL to not have played college football. His entry in the team program was listed as “U.S. Mars” (short for United States Marines).
During a Monday Night Football telecast, a camera panned to the steaming bald head of Sistrunk. ABC commentator Alex Karras, noting this alien-like presence and the program information quipped that Sistrunk’s alma mater was the University of Mars.

Wow!  That brings back such great memories of the epic battles of the Steelers and the Raiders back in the 1970's.

BTW: in your context it's 'cue card'; queue cards are what we get when we try to sign up for The Affordable Health Care Act.

If I'm FSU and are watching the first half of the SEC Championship game, I'm hoping that there is no upset in the Mich. St./OSU game.

It is pretty simple. It is Florida State against Ohio State if Ohio State wins their game. If not, Auburn is in. Auburn does not have much of a defense and they did lose a game. That's just the way it is. A lot of teams have regrets this year for lapsing against an inferior foe.

There is no D, in SEC.

SEC actually has 3 teams in the Top 10 in the nation in defense.  Alabama is #1, Florida is 5th, and LSU 8th.

Looks like the Ego Bowl is a go:
Saban v. Meyer - may the stronger sense of self-esteem win!

The winner will have a strong case for "Who's Number Two"?

Even Auburn fans will have to admit from having more than a little Good Fortune.

Any chance Ohio State and Oklahoma State could meet in a bowl game?

After their performances yesterday it could be billed as Overrated State University vs. Overrated State University...
