The Icon Of Lockhart Texas Barbecue Edgar Black Is 86 Years Old Today

Happy Birthday to Edgar Black, the owner and pit boss in residence of Black's the best barbecue in Lockhart Texas. Sorry Kreuz, sorry Smitty's, y'all can still put out a decent plate but for day in day out eating Black's is the king.
 
We've been hitting Edgar Black's old joint since '91. Always ask for the black and fatty and the meat cutter will smile, "you know where the good stuff is" is the common response.

scrumptiouschef, Do they take the brisket out of the Smoker, let it rest, then slice it? If I did that to mine, it would fall apart, what is their method, if you don't mind me asking!

Oh man! On the clip with Aida Mollencamp, it's difficult to tell which looked tastier. The brisket or Aida? Could I have both? 
 
Personally, although Smitty's is my favorite in Lockhart, I think Black's is much better than Kruez's any day! In more ways than one.

A very nice man.  During my visit, he and I wound up inside the smoker, talking "shop" for what must have been a half hour.
