The John Wayne Special?

I've always though Eat at Joe's in Redondo Beach, CA was the originator of the John Wayne Special...eggs, sausage links and home fries covered in a ranchero/huevos ranchero sauce. I recently discovered a diner in San Pedro, a few towns away has the same special. Has anyone else seen this? Is it some obscure special common in other parts of the country? Thanks

Here in an Ohio restaurant called TeeJay's they include two biscuits with the eggs, sausage, and homefries and cover it all with sausage gravy. They call it the Barnyard Buster I guess it's different strokes for different coasts -- this being the middle coast

Hi Elise, You're talking about the John Wayne Special at the Gaffey Street Diner which I reviewed here several years ago (and revisited just last week). I will have to ask Barbara about whether they created it next time I am there.
