The Late Gregory's Restaurant in Atlanta

Does anyone remember Gregory's Resturant in downtown Atlanta? I dined there in the late '70s and remember it as a very sophisticated place. I believe their claim to fame was serving for the after-theatre crowd. Does anyone remember its exact location or when it went out of business?

It appears that no Roadfood participants can answer your query. I would suggest you try www.AtlantaCuisine.com for the information you desire.

Didn't make it down there this summer so it's withdrawal time. I see Bainbridge lost its only semi-decent restaurant when the Courtyard Cafe closed recently. Are there any decent dining options available in Bainbridge now? And what occupies the old Mr. G's (and many subsequent incarnations) location on 97 South?

And I believe before that incarnation, it was that short-lived upscale steak place Michaelangelo's, maybe seven or eight years ago. A noble, but failed attempt for a fine steak place in Bainbridge. I wonder how many restaurants have occupied that venerable space on the way to Faceville over the decades? It was Mr. G's hamburger place in the late '70s when I first encountered it. And in the '80s James Taylor had a great barbeque place going there--I believe it was called Country Boy's. He served huge portions of barbequed beef with fries and cole slaw. Then after that it was once again a hamburger place that served fairly decent barbeque through the late '90s. Is James Taylor still alive and around Bainbridge? I believe he did catering after he gave up that restaurant. And a Publix coming to Bainbridge? Unbelieveable! Where will it be located? Probably by that strip where WalMart and Home Depot dominate, I guess? Who would have thought that Big Box stores and strip mall sprawl would have hit Bainbridge, but in the last five years it sure has hit with a vengence on the US 27 South corridor. Don't miss that a bit.

As far as Publix location (if it actually does come) will be in the Walmart vicinity.
