The Little Tavern

Perhaps this has been posted before but if your anywhere near my age, 63, and lived in DC. who could forget the 24/7 Little Tavern. Sort of a 1 step down White Castle type burger, but also a much bigger menu, eat in or take out. All the cooks reminded me of "Cookie" in Beetle Bailey, and most were excons. After a Friday and saturday night of imbibing, A stop at Little Tavern was a must. Their food gave you gas that would be banned by the EPA today. Were they in other parts of the Country or a DC thing...I miss Club LT!

As far as I know, Little Taverns were only located in the Washington and ( I think ) Baltimore metro areas. I remember eating at Taverns a few times in the early '80s; I recall their burgers as being pretty decent.

There were still Little Taverns in the area when I moved to the DC Metro area in 87....I loved those little gut bombs.....especially after a night of drinking in G-Town!!!!! The last one I remember being open was next to the Pawn Shop at Spout Run in Arlington......I think it was turned into a 1-Hour Photo Shop for awhile. Haven't been down that way for a long time. Hmmmmmm maybe a trip to the Italian Store for a Milano is in order....ya know just to see if the Little Tavern building is still there.....
