yeah I saw that earlier. That's why I just stick with order the #2 (two cheeseburger meal) with a coke when I go or the Big Mac. Now if they get rid of the big mac Mcdonald's and I are going to have some issues

If the McDouble costs more than a buck, I'll get a McChicken instead.

What, they're removing an ingredient and increasing the price? They should have left it as it was --- I'm sure they were making plenty of profit from it. I'm going to look elsewhere for "value menu" offerings. The double cheese value menu burger was always something you could count on when you were on the road and needed something fast. Andrea

Hey, when I read about it I went out and got one before it became too late -- for a buck.

No big loss for me. I usually scrape off one slice of cheese anyways.

I'd rather just spend an extra quarter and get it the way it was.

The only reason I stopped at McDonalds was for the $1 double Cheeseburger. No great loss, I'll just eat somewhere else.

They will still keep the double cheeseburger, just raise the price the McDouble will be sans one piece of cheese and stay on the $1 menu

Dunno why it is, but the Double Cheeseburger is the only current US McD's product that tastes like the MCD's of the 70's and 80's when Ray Kroc was still alive and they cared more about quality than the bottom line. Wonder what they do with it to make it different. Or what they do to to the other products to make them less appealing. I know the cooking techniques have changed, but then why does the Double Cheeseburger taste better?

The best double cheeseburger I get is at the Wellsboro, PA Mcds. It has a slight pepper taste that I never get on any other burger at any other Mcdonalds. Plus it's always served hot and fast.

I had an inadvertent McTriple at the Mickey D's in Clinton, CT today. Ordered a Double Cheeseburger, but it came with 3 patties and 3 pieces of cheese. Quite tasty actually, reminded me a bit of McD's in their better days.

I would guess that it is because they are constantly making them, so they have not been sitting in a holding bin waiting to be nuked.

While I will not miss the extra slice of cheese (sometimes I took it off), my 11 yr old son's reaction was 'what the heck?? what a rip-off!' Yeah, the boy loves his cheese:)

Yeah, the boy loves his cheese:) You can still get the double cheeseburger, but now it's $1.19. That's 19-cents for that one little extra slice of cheese.

Yeah, but my ex and his wife are both cheapskates (despite making roughly 3x my annual salary, lol) so they won't go for it. He'll only get it when he's with me, poor kiddo.....and I don't do the fast food thing very often, I prefer to cook:)

I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but I like this change. Two slices of that cheese is too much for my taste. I'd prefer one on a double, and I have an extra 19 cents kicking around my back seat somewhere to ensure that it happens with as little confusion as possible.

Lately anytime I find myself at a FF drive thru and they ask, "will there be anything else?" I say yes, this is to go, there is usually silence from the order taker. Never fails to make me laugh.

I got the new McDbl but W/O cheese. They always get cooked fresh that way. And... I don't like that cheese. Not bad for a buck. It used to be called a DBL Burger and was only .89c. If I take them home I nuke the meat a bit, toast the buns under the broiler, and add extra pickles or nacho sliced pickled jalapenos. My sweety likes mustard on hers. Sometimes I add mayo to mine, especially if I added jalapenos. I love the combo of mayo and jalapenos. Joe

Oddly, McDonalds shows 12 gm protein for their basic hamburger, but only 22 for the McDouble. Shouldn't the McDouble have at least twice the protein of their basic burger? They list 15 gm protein for their basic Cheeseburger, so shouldn't the McDouble be around 27 gm? What happens to the missing 5 grams of protein? Are they using smaller burgers for the McDouble? Furthermore, they list the double cheeseburger at 25 gm where I would expect it to be about 30 gm. Certainly the bun & condiments don't contribute appreciably to the protein. It appears they may be using smaller burgers for the doubles.

My mother who will soon be 82 (Inspite of McD's) buys 4 at a time and freezes them. She loves them and it's an easy meal for her. I try to talk her out of them, but if it makes her happy... However, since they've renamed them, took out one slice of cheese AND keep them on the Dollar menu she insists the patties are smaller... not as thick. Think she's been eating too many of them. On another note, McD's ice cream sundae is the best deal in town.

You are forgetting that the bun used in the hamburger and cheeseburger has 4 grams of protein. Cheeseburger Beef Patty - 8g (probably about 7.5, but rounded up to 8) Bun - 4g Cheese - 3g McDouble Beef Patties - 15g Bun - 4g Cheese - 3g
