Great news folks! McRib returns to Central Ohio on Monday for a four to eight week visit.

Who knows, I might even try one for the first time.

so you hate Steak and Shake but you'd willingly indulge in a gelatinous molded piece of "pork" with sickeningly sweet BBQ sauce on it?

Well, I've tried Steak & Shake. I've never tried the McRib, which you've made sound absolutely magnificent compared to anything from Steak & Shake.

These are so easy to make. Get a Loin and cut 6 0z chops pound until 1/4" thick. Place in slow cooker and add Bulls Eye BBQ Sauce. Add Sliced onions and cook on slow for 6 Hrs. Place on a good roll. Do These year round. I don't do Arch's. But on Valentines Day here there is a line twice around them . LOL

Mr.Hoffman-I would be interested in your opinion of the McRib. I. too, think I would prefer it over anything at Steak and Shake.

Obviously, you've never eaten anything from Steak & Shake, and you could not possibly have eaten a sponge and say that.

You've got to give it to McDonalds - they know how to market the heck out of an item that probably SHOULD have been a flop, but instead has build a cult like following. There are hundreds of websites dedicated to the McRib, rabid fans who drive hours just to get them - and now they roll them at the same time as their wildly popular Monopoly game?

They are certainly onto something!

Oh, btw - I dont personally enjoy the McRib. Had it two years ago when a McDonalds franchise in SoCal had it on their menu. It was ok, but nothing to get SO excited about!

Wendy Williams just had, and showed a close up, of 2 McRibs on her show. She told about eating them when she was younger and said she planned of having one this W/E. I didn't remember the onions and pickles. Hey, it's been awhile since I had one.

Our Louisville NBC station did a local news story of folks lining up for the McRibs at a downtown McDonalds. Not a commercial...a news clip with interviews and views of the fake ribs being removed from a deep fryer basket and dipped in the 'goo' (I can't bring myself to call it BBQ Sauce")
I have receive three emails this morning with MCRIB coupons that include a free Dr Pepper, or Two-phers for the sandwich itself!
I would say the marketeers are having a field day with this-rebirth!

Al, wow... two-phers for McRibs! Let us know how you like them. I would suggest extra onions and pickles if there is no extra charge.

About the McRib Shake... chocolate or vanilla???

You can always just say McNo to the McRibless.  If it's so McDarn McPopular why don't they always McSell it?

It's about as laughable as selling a McMignon.

Yeah, I do turn it down !  I tried one some years back and was more than disappointed !!!  We even found some frozen versions (not the McDonalds brand, in the grocery store some time back, and gave them a try...worse than the FF types !

Not meaning to side-track the theme, but we have tried the Sausage McPancake thingy on the breakfast menu and have found them to be better than the usual biscuit/sausage combination for a fast bite on the road !

Actually I have had several.  Many folks make fun of them because they are not the real deal but it is in my opinion a tasty sandwich.  Obviously not a real rib sandwich  but tasty.  For those who do not like them, do you eat balogna or other mixed meat sandwiches?  In my personal opinion, it is nothing more than a sandwich of some mixed meat.  I do not go out of my way to buy them but when they are available, I buy them.

tkitna:  Have you ever noticed we're sometimes embarrassed to admit we LOVE certain foods?  Well, for me, it's the McRib.  I dislike McDonald's, but I love McRib: the only thing on the menu I'll order, the only reason I'll stop at McDonald's, and of course, it's only available a couple of times a year.  One note of warning, though.  When you order a McRib, I suggest ordering at the very start of the lunch or dinner hours.  During slow periods, I've noticed the quality of the sandwich suffers immensely.  The meat isn't as juicy, the sauce has been heated so long it's thick and yucky, and the onions aren't as fresh.  Other than those rare occurrences, I look forward to McRib season like a kid looks forward to a parade!

Heck, I'll be the first to admit I can't stand the McRibless though I did like it as a teenager.  This is off topic for this thread, but I also like Papa John's pizza.  Things change and I'm not ashamed to say what I like and what I don't - it's different for everyone.
