The Original Soup Man (franchise), Hyattsville, MD Tue, 02/3/09 9:18 PM (permalink)
I had a doctor's appt. at 1:20 pm today and didn't get a chance to have lunch beforehand, so afterwards, my daughter and I ventured over to the new University Town Center on America Boulevard in Hyattsville. It's across the street from the Mall at Prince George's, and about a block from the intersection of East-West Highway/Queens Chapel Rd/Adelphi Rd.

I had wanted to try the Original Soup Man franchise there and so that's where we went today. Both of us got a cup of the Crab Bisque, which was full of crab meat and very tasty.  We apparently got a "meal," because it came with a slice of bread, a piece of fruit and a piece of Hershey's chocolate. The fruit choices were: banana, tangerine or apple; bread was wheat or white. A packet of oyster crackers was also provided.

The soup itself was very good, but pricey! Two of the cup of soup meals came to nearly $20! I think next time I'll just get soup, because it was good enough that I'll definitely return.

Okay, now I can't remember--is this the guy that the Seinfeld character was based on or not?  About three soup chains opened up after that and I never did remember which was which.

Yes, this is the "Soup Nazi" from Seinfeld. We didn't sample any of the other soups, just the crab bisque, which we ended up getting. They use the recipes from Soup Man. Thanks for asking, Nancypalooza.

Hmm... this was a "trip" albeit a very short one, as I live in Hyattsville. I wonder, though, if I should have put it in fast food franchises?
