The Roadfood Insider is Here!

Look at the toolbar at the top of the screen and you will see a new tool: "The Roadfood Insider." Here you will find Roadfood Maps and the Logbook – features we believe will dramatically increase the usefulness of the information on this site. Have a look and see if they are as helpful to you as they have been to us in the testing stages.

The Roadfood Logbook feature allows Jane and me and Stephen to log every restaurant eating experience we have – good, bad, and indifferent. Some experiences will eventually become reviews, some won't. Here you will learn about great meals as well as horrible ones. We can point out those Roadfood restaurants that have great dishes and some dishes never to be ordered again. Contents of the logbook will be updated almost every day, and once it gets rolling, the logbook will be available for all Roadfood Insider subscribers to contribute their own entries and create their own Roadfood diaries for future reference.

Every registered Roadfood user will have free access to these features until January 30th; after that, they will be available to those who subscribe to The Roadfood Insider ($19.95 for a year – about the cost of a Roadfood meal for two). Subscribers will also be able to download a template for Microsoft Streets and trips that includes all Roadfood restaurants, gas stations, hotels, and landmarks along any route in the U.S.A.

Did you refresh your screen? It should be working. I just checked and mine does. Note the logbook entries at the right of the screen above the reviews, too.

What a great idea- Roadfood Insider. This new feature really takes roadfood.com to a new level. Now we can learn first hand exactly what Jane and Michael really think about a particular establishment- the good, bad and the ungly. I can't wait for your updates. I also love the maping feature- just like your roadfood books. Can't wait to get a copy of maps and streets so I can download your information to my laptop and always have with me when I travel. Good work- and what a great price- your www.roadfood.com is the greatest value on the Internet. Keep up the good work.

I think folks will like MS Streets and Trips 2004. I've had it for about a month and am very pleased with it. The integrated functions are a vast improvement over my separate Streets 98 and Trip Planner 98 programs. Some GPS users want more GPS features but that doesn't apply to me.

I've read that the maps are much more accurate than in the past.

    Nice feature.

However, I was frustrated when I tried to click on the flags on the map in New Haven, Connecticut -- there are too many great eateries there for all of them to be clickable.

Question: in the 12/27 log entry for Carminuccio's, it says a steak sandwich was ordered, yet no picture of said steak sandwich appeared. Shouldn't the item being reviewed be pictured?

(not a criticism, just trying to understand this new feature)
