It's nothing personal, Pennsylvania folks, but if shoo fly pie and apple pan dowdy, makes your eyes light up, your tummy say howdy. Shoo fly pie and apple pan dowdy, I never get enough of that wonderful stuff doesn't get out of my head I'm going to blow the keystone out of your state. Aaaarrrrggghhhh!

Michael, I can help. Try "3 little fishies in a itty-bitty-pool" or "Rum and CocaCola" Those two always work for me when I get stuck on Shoo Fly Pie.

The only time I ever heard of apple pan dowdy was on the Rocky & Bullwinkle show.

For me it is the theme song from the Disney ride "It's a Small World After All". The ride is long and the speakers every 3 feet along the way blare out that tune for every damn inch of it !! Once you are infected it eats your brain-cells by the billions ! I almost attacked a person in my Doctors office some time back who used that song as the ringtone on their cell-phone and received what I felt were hundreds of calls during the time we shared in the waiting room !!

Oh? Sorry. Erace that one with this one: Strike up the music the band has begun The Pennsylvania Polka Pick out your partner and join in the fun The Pennsylvania Polka It started in Scranton. It's now number one It's bound to entertain ya Everybody has a mania to do the polka from Pennsylvania While they're dancing Everybody's cares are quickly gone Sweet romancing This goes on and on until the dawn. They're so carefree Gay with laughter, happy as can be They stop to have a beer Then the crowd begins to cheer They kiss and then they start to dance again. Strike up the music the band has begun The Pennsylvania Polka Pick out your partner and join in the fun The Pennsylvania Polka It started in Scranton. It's now number one It's bound to entertain ya Everybody has a mania to do the polka from Pennsylvania.

Unfortunately the Pennsylvania Polka doesn't work. I remember when it was on The Hit Parade (radio, not television).

The Pennsylvania Polka circa 1942--The Andrews Sisters---Patty, LaVerne and Maxene----- The Hit Parade starring Bea Wain with Lanny Ross and the Lucky Strike Hit Parade Orchestra under the baton of ???? Michael these young whippersnappers don't know what they missed when they grew up with TV. Radio was much better. Your mind made the pictures for you---The Lone Ranger and Tonto, astride Silver and Scout, sitting on a hillside looking down on a small Western Town where trouble was brewing------------I can see it now.

Don't forget Buddy Clark and Kay Thompson, and later Frank Sinatra, Dorothy Collins and Doris Day among the singers on the program. And those batons were held by Axel Stordahl and Raymond Scott, among others. I hate the fact that I can actually remember that stuff.

I was walking the hound and it was raining out. She didn't care so why should I? Then a song by Johnny Ray popped into my head----started singing---Just walking in the rain, getting soaking wet- Well, the hound couldn't put her paws over her ears, so now when it is raining out she hides under a bed. But every time it rains I start humming that tune.

If your heartaches seem to hang around to long, And your blues keep getting bluer with each song... Well, now, remember sunshine can be found Behind a cloudy sky, So let your hair down And go right on baby and cry.

Speaking of little white clouds---it is a lovely 77 degree day here in St Pete with a few little white clouds. No rain in site. And speaking of Harry Belafonte---the year was 1949---William B Williams had a TV show. Black and white naturally----actually it was two shades of gray----light and dark gray. He had Belafonte as his guest. Harry lip sinced "Day-is-a-day-oh" but the song coming out of the TV was "Scarlet Ribbons". Little mistakes like that happened in those days-----made life fun. And gives me something to talk about 62 years later.

you don't want this in your head, whoa...too late: I was alright for a while, I could smile for a while But I saw you last night, you held my hand so tight As you stopped to say "Hello" Aw you wished me well, you couldn't tell That I'd been crying over you, crying over you Then you said "so long." left me standing all alone Alone and crying, crying, crying, crying It's hard to understand but the touch of your hand Can start me crying
