The South Carolina Slaw Dog
Man this is one of my faves. It's a contradiction.
The Slaw Dog is a mixed-pork frank, no all-beef here, forget about it. No discussion.
it gets heaped with cole slaw and wrapped in foil so the bun gets all mushy almost like a paste (eeeeew gross) but that's where the cabbage slaw comes in and takes over the whole role of texture. And that sweet/sour with the salty pork sausage makes for totaly harmony.
DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS STYLE if you don't have foil-wrap, that's how you get the bun to steam and soften, this is ABSOLUTELY INTEGRAL TO THE STYLE. Iffn the bun ain't mushy y'all ain't doing it right.
