I just finished watching it! Excellent interview - the Sterns hope to hook up with Harry Smith next time in his hometown, Pella, Iowa, aka known by Mrs. Stern as "Civilization" One of their tips was "Never ask the hotel clerk where the best places are in town to eat!"

Funny, about the Hotel Clerk advise. I travel a lot and they know absolutely nothing. "Well sir there is an Applebees(sp?) down the street".

Hotel Clerks get either paid in small amounts, or free food by crummy places to recommend them.

Harry Smith sounds like a "foodie"! The book is a fun read. Jane and Michael's enthusiasm jumps off the page. It's one thing for you and I to experience many of these places, but we've been (mostly) tipped off and armed with our gastronomic Bible. For the Stern's, the elation of "discovering" these great places and the ability to pass them along to everyone else is their life's passion and a job well done! I'm still not sure how one could eat 12 meals a day. Then, again I'm not sure how my wife can hit 12 stores in a day either.

From what I saw, Jane's the personality, Michael's the salesman. Jane's cool.
