I'll bet a lot of you have ordered "classes" from the Teaching Company:
www.teach12.com
http://www.teach12.com/greatcourses.aspx?ai=16281

While they generally have a few of their over 300 courses on sale, this week has been incredible. For example, today they are offering over 175 courses at $40 or less (including DVD) with another 20% off if you order $125. If you know them, they offer great college level courses (no credit) on DVD, audio, tape and download in everything from Astronomy to Zoology (including art, ancient history, math, sciences, literature, etc.) all great to listen in your car, during exercise, in bed (good for insomnia!), etc.

They recently offered (and on sale) a nice course on wines, also on nutrition, stress, etc. Nothing on cooking, yet. (How about History of Food!).

I have over 100 courses, and am a "Top 10 reviewer" (check my reviews on course ratings)I don't know if you need to be a regular customer to get these rates (I got an email about the sales this week), but it's worth it,asa good present to yourself (or someone else who will let you listen).

Who else has heard of these courses?

I have seen this advertised in the Smithsonian magazine and had always been curious about them. Thanks for the link.

I have never heard of them in my life, but I usually assume things like that are all ripoffs.  Good to know at least one of them is legit!

Yes, I do love "TTC". I don't know why I'm saying this, I don't work for them, etc. But I imagine RF is such an erudite group, they would like to know about Teaching Co.

Basically they are like regular college courses (meaning 6-12-18-24 hours) lectures by professors, but at no credit. They are generally geared to adult learners and are pretty high quality. Problem is, the are fairly expensive, but have regular sales so its worth waiting.

        Anyhoo.....I do recommend...
