Venison chili is the very BEST chili on the planet, in my opinion!

It's called preventitive steps. After next week's trip to the Carolinas for BBQ, meat and threes and seafood, I expect it will just be back to "my former self"!

I need to cut back at least twenty pounds, but it would mean cutting back on my liquids.

Do you realize how well SlimFast would do if they came out with it in lager and nut-brown ale flavors?

Great story, dickestep. The Chinese have a red "master sauce" that they keep replenishing the same way. IS it any coincidence that yours is a "pot of red" too?

Here is a reference to the tradition:

 My mother used to tell me that every Chinese home had their own master sauce which has many years of tradition, with flavours added and developed like culturing a starter dough.
In the past, before refrigerators became popular, the sauce was kept fresh by heating it over a charcoal stove, with fresh wood added to burn slowly.
The best master sauce was one that had been used to cook different ingredients over time. It was said that a hawker who sold braised duck would not give it away or sell it at any price. When it was time for him to retire, he would make his children swear that the sauce would be kept in the family, even if his children did not carry on the business.

Howdy, Mike. Thank you. Yep, I dropped back in to check on a few recipes and browse.

Chili season is almost upon us out here in Texas now that the highs have dipped down into the 90's.
 
Does anyone remember when the contestant at Terlingua combined samples from all the cooking teams, entered the resulting combined chilis AND WON THE COOKOFF?
 
I can't dig up the story but me and a buddy of mine were discussing the scandal last night.

Ahhh, good ol cousin Dick's long buried thread. I have seen that old son of a gun on here for 2 years. I do still talk to him a couple times a year. Gotta keep in touch with the family, ya know?
