The loss of sgt whites

The saddest day in any man's life is the loss of his favorite food. It is with great regret that i must tell the BBQ community that this day has come for me! SGT WHITES real pit BBQ has closed with no planes of reopening.

Yes, im talking about SGT. White's in beaufort SC, and the good SGT. Ron White has decided to have a proper retierment and sell the diner he built with his own hands in 1989 for the bargain price of $125k, although he will be available to the new owners for consultation i don't think it will be the same without him as the pit master.

Well, the powers that be at roadfood.com, apparently saw fit to delete and replace my post. Oh, well. I'm not surprised. Sgt. White is going to stay on until he can find someone to buy his business, not the building, and he insists upon staying until the new owner has learned from him, Sgt. White, personally, how to cook his food the way he cooks it. He's still there and was last week when I ate there myself.

Yes, he is. Dukes is okay. MacPhearson's in Port Royal is great. Steamer's on Lady's Island is more known for seafood, but makes mean BBQ. Big Joe's is more Kansas City-style. There are more.
