Yeah, I never thought I would initiate a thread in the fast food forum, but this certainly needed attention

Yes, that was certainly very careless!

They are keeping up with their Crapplebee's image...

The thing I don't quite understand is how margarita mix contains alcohol. I mean, I hardly ever drink margaritas at bars anyway (my recipe is WAY more expensive than they want to make, or I want to pay them for)...but does this mean they're using PREMIX instead of actually making a drink when you order it?

Yes, I realize that's not the focus here.

The other thing...this woman said she wasn't going to make a big deal out of it until her kid started getting sick. WTF was she thinking? Someone accidentally serves alcohol to my baby and I'm screaming bloody murder immediately!

At least they had a somewhat plausible excuse.

Several years ago a TGI Fridays in our area served a pre-schooler a glass of whiskey instead of juice. How do you make that mistake?

How much did this kid drink to need hospital care? As a kid we always had tastes of wine or beer at my Grandparents and never got sick. I'd think the parent of any 2 year old would take a look when the kid made a face after the first sip. Even if it was juice, it could have been spoiled. So many of these stories have an odd twist that make them a bit hard to understand...or believe.

I heard it on the Howard Stern show. The way the mother said that she wasn't going to worry about it until he got sick, made Howard and company think maybe she'll file a lawsuit.
The article didn't give that impression though.

Sounds a bit fishy to me. In NC it is illegal to have alcohol behind the bar in a non-tax stamped container...and the powers that be get down right nasty about it.

                    this occured in California.
NC is an ABC state like Virginia. The liquor is sold by the state and they have very stringent laws/regulations.
Many Other states do no operate this way. It's very common in bars to premake drinks and have them ready.
Very often the premade drinks like a maragarita, are lined up in the well of the bar next to mixers such as cranberry juice, orange juice, lime juice, pineapple juice, etc., in similar plastic bottles - usually the juices are delinated by the color of the bottle they've been put into. Or, sometimes the bottles are solid white (not clear), and you can guess the juice by the color you see through the frosted white plastic.

The bartender was certainly careless, but not unhonest.
