An easy one. Noble Roman's Pizza in Indianapolis. (I note the city in case it was just that outlet, not the chain, that deserves the blame.) This was the only pizza, including amusement parks, street vendors, convenience stores with a microwave, gas stations, bait stores, etc., etc., that I simply could not eat. Its flavour was predominantly that of badly burnt canned tomato sauce, with heavy overtones of diesel fuel and mutton fat, served on a crust that seemed to be made of melted cornstarch packing peanuts, with a lingering finish reminiscent of my cat's litter box.

This was many years ago, and perhaps things have changed since then. I, however, will not be the one going back to check.

Pizza Hut is the worst pizza I've ever tasted. They don't have that pazazz in the ingredients. It's just plain and nasty, like Little Caesar. By the way, buying pizza from Mike Ilitch is just making him richer(Little Caesars).

Pizza Hut, Blackpool, England. They couldn't do anything right, but the pizza my ex-wife craved (Canadian bacon, pineapple, broccoli) was the devil's own spawn.

Of course, Blackpool as a town was a celebration of everything that made people hate English food-- soggy fish and chips, week-old pre-wrapped sandwiches, chip butties, mushy peas.

Israel. Israel is also the place I had turkey wiener schnitzel and goat lungs in gravy. I don't recommend the wine either, but the beers, Gold Star and Maccabbee are great.

DiGiorno frozen pizza is the worst pizza I have ever eaten. They are quite expensive relative to the other choices, and I was misled by it's heft when I picked it up in the store. Interpreting the heft as coming from toppings when it is in fact from the dough. Upon eating it, the cheese was so sparse, it may as well not had any. The pepperoni was a fair quantity, not enough for me, but the bare minimum to get by without complaint. Mainly, it tasted like eating a loaf of bread. Just a real bread based meal. Certainly not worth $7. A $1 totino's pizza is much better.

A chain called "Hungry Howie's".... from 4-5 pm whatever time you get there is what the price of your large pizza is... and they have "flavored" crusts... if there is any flavor anywhere on these pizzas, I'd like to know where it is! Another baddie is from a place that makes the greatest calzones I've ever tasted... now explain that one...how do you make great calzones and crappy pizza at the same time????

Have to disagree with the 200 mile rule also. LaRocco's in San Clemente, CA is the favorite of East Coasters living in Southern California. Thin, fold-able and oily. Perfect!

I've thought long and hard about this one, and I'm sure there must be some repressed childhood memories that I'm not willing to face " />, but I have to say the worst pizza I can remember was at a Cici's in Stuart, FL. Crust not sufficiently raised and undercooked to a chewy, pasty consistency and a raw biscuit flavor. Sugary red sauce; rubbery, oily cheese-like substance; and flavorless toppings except for "pepperoni" which tasted like artificial bacon sprinkles. Sufficiently greasy to clear out the system, though. Won't be going back to any Cici's, no matter how cheap it is.

Well, the worst we had was a Pizza Hut Pizza,It had NO SAUCE! My brother called them and had them take it back(was delivered) and we got a new one which was carefully inspected before we accepted it.
Been long time customers of the place, since Pizza Inn was gone. There was a little mom and pop place that made good pizza, but the lady who ran it retired.
Best pizza I have eaten was in New York, when visiting my sister. We had been out running around all day
and she ordered delivery to the condo. It was a place near Piermont where she lives.I don't recall the name, but the stuff was good cold the next day.Crust was good, nice sauce and ingredients. Will have to ask her who it was.

When we moved to Lincolnwood in 1955, Oddo's on Peterson was the closest place for pizza, besides Alberti's in Skokie. As a kid, I absolutely loved Oddo's. The greasier, the better. No wonder I had severe acne from middle school through high school. Thank you Oddo's.

Vocelli's--a delivery chain in my town.

Serious acid reflux after eating their pizza. I must be in the minority because I have friends who love Vocelli.

This thread seems to mostly mention the names of the places that make bad pizza. The worst pizza I ever had was because I decided to let a co-worker order the toppings on a pizza we had for lunch one day.

About four of us went to a restaurant that was a local wood fired brick oven place that had been around for many years. My friend could not get anyone to go in on an anchovy and hot pepper pizza with him. Figuring that I could eat about anything, I said that I would share the pizza with him.

Have you ever had a wood fired brick oven anchovy and hot pepper pizza? The crust was great - perfectly almost charred. The sauce and cheese were just right. Unfortunately I could not stand the balance that the anchovies and hot peppers provided. I think I ate one slice and begged the others to let me have some of their pizza.

The worst I ever had was in some small town in Michigan. The sign said "Geniune Italian Pizza!". Guess what? It was Red Baron's! No joke. They served up a Red Barons pie. That was just nasty.

Well, it's not actually a pizza but an ingredient. There's a place near my sainted mother's house in Newport NH that uses some weird frozen then deep fried breaded chicken on it's pizza. I like chicken on pizza but this stuff is just plain wrong on so many levels. Fred

Close to the worst pizza I ever ate was from a place in Sangertown Mall in New Hartford, NY (not far from Voss' BBQ). It was called Sicilian Delight. The good part of this story is that they had (I think they still have) at Valentine's Day, a 1.5" thick heart-shaped pizza that says "I Love You" in pepperoni. I got one for my girlfriend one year and we tried to eat it, but it was inedible. The dough tasted undone, it was buried under mountains of sauce and cheese, but she loved that I made the gesture.

Billyboy, I've eaten slices at Sicilian Delight and I thought they were fine. A hand tossed ny style crust with a nice balance of sauce and toppings. I've never tried their Valantine shaped pie's or even ordered a whole pizza to go. I no longer live in c.n.y. but sometimes I'll order pizza from O'scugnizzo's and sent here to the dallas area. Which pizzaria do you like best? These people have no idea how lucky you are for the selection of italian specialities available to you. Italian greens, Florentine's rum cake, tomato pie, pusties, just to name a few.

You get what you pay for. Anything microwaved or frozen usually sucks. However I did like the Wolfgang Puck frozen pizza that appeared for a while in stores. But is was expensive frozen pizza and people didn't buy it so it folded. I guess there are a lot of people that enjoy frozen pizza. Go figure.

ynotryme, I've had some good slices at Sicilian Delight, but I think the valentines deal was a gimmick more for the aesthetic than the actual taste. Have heard of O'scugnizzo's but never went there. Love the greens, Hemstrought's, Voss' BBQ, Cavallo's for Monday night spaghetti for $1.99, pusites, and could never get enough cold tomato pie, no matter how many times someone's mom brought it to a birthday party. Rome has some good pizza too (Tony's, La Roma, the now defunct Losurdos, and the garlic pizza bread at The Plaza Restaurant). Have you ever tried turkey joints?

Billyboy, sure I have my family send Nora's turkyjoints here during the holidays. And I use to eat at Candyland for lunch when I worked at Oliver's Office Equipment as a teenager. That's where Turkyjoints originated. If you ever ate at Joe's in Whitesboro or Pasquale's on Varick street then you know what O'Scugnizzo's taste like. An upside down pizza with the sauce added after the pie is cooked. When Losurdo's Pizza Villa was open, it was really the only place I went. Tho, The Plaza for a sausage and pepper pizza. I grew up in Rome, worked at C.N.Y.P.C. (Marcy Hospital) til I retired in 98. Have you tried the Florentine's rum cake? It's what I always had for my birthday cake. Have you ever went to the cnyeats website? It's like this site except just CNY's food.I've been reading your review of the Franklyn Hotel. You should do one of Symeon's on Commercial Drive in New Hartford.

1950's; junior high school cafeteria; split hamburger bun, ketchup and shredded cheddar cheese, slightly warmed under the malfunctioning broiler.

Pizza does not exist west of Philadelphia nor south of New Jersey.
You will only find an artificial processed pizza food product.

The worst Pizza ever? Tough call. The worst Pizza in New York City? Two blocks from on W100th and Broadway - Cheesy Pizza. Their sandwiches are okay, but the Pizza is awful. Fortunately Sal & Carmines is practically across the street.

Last night I had what has to be the worst pizza ever made. After one bite, I would have tortured puppies to exchange it for Domino's or Pizza Hut. I was in Tupelo, Ms., and made the grave error of having Pizza Doctor deliver to my motel room. Do you remember how bad pizzas used to be at the drive-in circa 1968? This was worse.
