Other than the Internet, and Cell Phones, what are some new things you thank your stars for?

ME, zero radius lawn mowers, Lables that are attached to mens pants that can be pulled off without a surgical process to remove those 4 threads that took an hour to remove, pull top soup cans. Many others!

The internet including online banking, online shopping and travel arrangements Most computer software Excel instead of lotus, Word instead of Word perfect. Digital camera instead of those Polaroid photos. Lazer printers instead of thermal printers. Disposable / microwavable food containers. The Kreepy Krawler for the pool. The Pool man. Wine tasting parties. A 1000 watt microwave instead of 300 watt.

            Thats it for now.

agree with you about the internet even though the jury is still out on chat rooms and you tube ( I am beginning to know more and more who are finding themselves getting into trouble with you tube ).

satellite radio. nothing is better !!

Internet and cell phones would be 2 of my biggest. Actually computers in general are a big hit with me. I can do so much more now, reading, learning, seeing distant places. All from my easy chair.

Swiffer, Magic Eraser, DNA testing(hasn't affected my life, but it's good to see criminals caught years after an offense), coffee pot with auto-on and thermal carafe, potting soil with fertilizer and moisture control built in, navigation systems and bluetooth.

GPS in the vehicle, online banking, titanium drivers and hybrid golf clubs, satellite radio, wireless internet are some of the good things added in the last 10 years IMHO.

Online brokerage information, accounts and trading Services. Had I had that tool in my younger days I might have been a richer man.

                              DavyD,
As a retired Economics Teacher, I had to search the memory cells for the 'term project' I required of my H S Seniors back in the 1980's and early '90's. They would invest $100 k in a minimum of six stocks and track the progress of their investments using the L A Times Stock pages and VALUE-LINE for research info. It was always a busy class day when they dug into the paperwork to find the answers to the questions about value etc etc.

Then in the mid-90's the group jumped to On-Line research material and computer graphics for creating the graphs of progress etc. While the quality of the finished reports increased significantly... the actual student involvement in digging out the answers faded almost entirely.

I don't believe my replacement uses the invest project as a major part of the work for the term anymore. Times do change.

While we don't take the risks we might have 25 years ago with our retirement funds, it is interesting to set up pseudo-funds that match the real ones and see what sort of combinations will prove of merit in the "if only we had" investment games.
