chewingthefat Going Bird watching. I understand your thinking but birding has been a huge interest in my life for better than 40 years. I live on the banks of the Tennessee River and not only do I have a huge visitation of waterfowl, I have a huge migration of spring and fall warblers. Birding is a huge interest of mine as I have traveled all 50 states, all of Canada, all of Central America, a good portion of South America and most of Europe to just keep up on my hobby. I have in excess of 700 different species of birds on my list. I guess everyone has a list just like BB has a list of restaurants in the USA. I understand you do not care for the hobby but perhaps as you get older like the ageing Sundancer, you just might appreciate the hobby. Good luck with the BBQ. Sincerely and respectfully: Paul E. Smith Knoxville, TN

I love bird watching, and as I have a forest butting up on my property, I get many, many species.Today, I watched 100s of birds at my many feeders, filling up before the impending blizzard coming our way. Better than anything on t.v!!

Better than anything on t.v!! Count me in with the bird watchers too. I am disabled/home bound and as I sit in front of my computer a good portion of the day, I look out the window at my feeders and a thick line of pine and hardwoods. A park is behind my property so I get many species, including several hawks that drop by for a "snack". Yesterday and today the feeders and the yard have been busy with many bird stocking up before the blizzard that's predicted to hit us later today.

Smith Knoxville, TN Paul, I love the beauty, grace, and song of every bird on earty, It's just not in my makeup to stand motionless in the cold rain, or sit still while bugs devour me, in order to see a particular bird. My father was an avid Birder, he made us walk for miles along the C & O Canal looking for a Yellow Breasted Sap Sucker or some other bird we had zero interest in then, when we were small kids and wanted to be playing baseball or some such. The sounds of Spring, God's gift to mans ears!I know there are millions of avid Birders, and bless you and your cohorts for keeping the endangered species, protected and growing, ie. the California Condor, comes to mind, not to mention the Bald Eagle. Me, I'm a porch birder!

Sundancer, What an impressive list of birds you've observed---But----Have you been to Washington D.C to observe the most elusive and dumbest bird in the World?? I'm speaking of the congregation of Doe-Doe Birds that have their feathered nests in that big, round-domed building, on Capitol Hill. Sometimes they perch on the statues of our Forefathers and with great disregard, they deposit droppings on their heads. At feeding time, they all fly into the feeding troughs called the House & Senate and collect all the feed they can possibly grab for themselves. Then, joyfully, they fly in ever decreasing circles until they fly up their own rear ends! Every 2 years or so, they migrate back to their Home Breeding Grounds to convince the other Little Doe-Doe Birds to send them back to the feeding trough with promises that the Big Doe-Doe Birds will provide a small amount of the feed for them. Have you observed them Paul?
