I hate freakin' Winter. So I'm thinking about moving my Taste of Chicago BBQ Cabin Concession Trailer down South. I also have a nice Hot Dog Cart that can go. Perfect location would be near a popular beach. Any Roadfood Members who just happen to live near the Ocean who may be interested in Partnering Up drop me a email. Southside Ribs, Chicago style Hot Dogs, Italian Beef Sandwiches, Pizza, and Canaryville Chicken would be the main menu. Can add a couple of Local Dishes on the Menu. I'm very flexible. I have a beautiful, rustic, custom built 8' x 20' BBQ Cabin Concession Trailer that would look great on any beach, parking lot, or roadside location in Florida, Alabama, Georgia. Will email Photos to anyone who may interested.

paddy; I feel your pain but the beaches down here are not so trailer, /cart friendly, they do have some trailers on different beaches but from what I understand they pay a hefty amount to do so, and I have noticed that even they are for sale I think the last one I saw on new symrna beach was around 80 K. so even there not doin so well. but that being said you never know till you try one like you say maybe a parking lot some where. I would love to be here in the winter and then in New England in the summers ! good luck..... Buck

I have a buddy who lives in FL, in tight with the local government, a business owner and he now wants to get into the food business at his local beach/boat launch with a trailer. The last time I spoke with him he was on his 5th month running around in circles trying to get the needed permits. Right now, the local government wants a 12% off the top cut along with monthly rental fees or no rental fees and a 60/40 cut of all profits. He figures that he may know something soon, but is getting pretty po'd about the whole process and the fact that the government not only wants taxes and fees, but a cut off of the top to boot. And he has yet to speak to the local health dept., which will dictate his menu and I am sure will create more headaches in regards to what my friend would like to serve. His son in law is a chef for one of the nations largest wholesale grocers/retailers and has some great ideas, but as I told my friend, that will be up to the health department.

To the op, not saying you cannot do what you want to do, just be prepared. If you start this year maybe by next winter you will have that perfect winter location.

Daytona beach has spots on beach, many K'$ but who knows,Good luck.

Try AL. You may not want to set up actually on the beach. We found the Gulf beaches in TX to be dirty (lots of seaweed) and very windy (like constantly) compared to the east coast FL beaches. I don't know if all of the gulf beaches are like that but we found the same in Panama City Beach.  To find warmer winter temps, you need to basically be looking at anything south of the line that is created by the SC/NC, NC/GA, TN/GA and TN/AL state lines. The farther South, the less overnight freezes.

Miami has a budding food trailer/truck scene going on.
