It's not prime rib people....it is a fast food breakfast sandwich...which is VERY tasty!!!

I've never had the thing that McDonald's calls a "bagel", and I've never seen or heard anything that would make me want to try one.

My friend swears by these things. I prefer to go with the bacon,egg, and cheese biscuit myself.

I actually had a bagel-something breakfast sandwich from McDonald's the other year. Surprisingly, it was more like a bagel then some of the bagged bread-things in the supermarket. No crackly surface, but some chew to it.

Not like one of these babies, though:

when this sandwich first came out, they used a steak-um like steak and the sandwich was ok. But, now they use a preformed steak patty and the taste is completely different. I guess the original sanwich was too messy or too hard to make, so they went with the less tasting steak patty. Not so good.

It's mcdonald's so obviously it's going to be poor quality and the original poster knows it, but loves it all the same. This would fall under the topic I started "So bad it's good"

Some people on here are like a broken record. So you don't like McD's or Wendy's or BK or Arby's or Sonic, etc. We get it! When someone makes a positive post about one of these FF joints, why is it necessary to add your two cents about how bad they are? Do you think we missed it the first ninety-nine times you posted? Some of us go to these places because we either like them or have no other choices. Or maybe, it's for convenience. Either way, it's our choice. We don't need someone telling us repeatedly how bad the choice is. As my little granddaughter likes to say, "you're not the boss of me". Some of you just need to get over yourselves.

Now, I feel better. I think I'll go treat myself to a McD's double cheeseburger- hold the ketchup.

I don't know if I would've called it "quite good," but it was certainly passable for a breakfast on the go. The bagel could use improvement, but it's still better than the bagel from Thomas'.

That must have been what I had. I didn't remember the meat as being a slab like in the photo above.

Ditto on the Thomas's bagels! That's what I was thinking of.

Looks good to me. I would try it. McDonald's has always had some decent breakfast items.

Actually, I go to McDonald's a few times a month for their Asian Salad with grilled chicken. The greens are fresh, the chicken is actually very tasty and moist, and it comes with slivered almonds and Newman's Sesame Ginger Dressing.

McDonald's is clearly capable of doing some things very well, such as their newer salads and the coffee that they now serve. However, their idea of a bagel is not something that those of us who live in the NY Metro area would recognize as a bagel. For those who live in other parts of the country, you might not notice any difference from what is sold in bagel shops in your region.

So--I am not one who uniformly bashes McDonald's, but I am selective in terms of what I order there.

I'm sure you're right concerning the bagel, but I'll bet McD's came up with it for the whole country, not the NY metro area. There's not a restaurant in my town that sells a bagel, other than McD's.

BTW, the Southwest Salad has returned to McD's.

My granddaughter will ask me if we can go to "Old McDonald's" and I will take her once a month for her fix of chicken tenders, french fries and a chocolate milk. I am most happy with their coffee and that is all I want from there. (Incidentally, we went last week and she complained that the frys were too hot............I asked for one to try it and lo and behold............I guess that if you hit it lucky, you actually get something that is not lukewarm.)

I actually tried this sandwich this past weekend and it wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. It kind of reminded me of the steak ummm ready to eat cheese steak

As someone from the NYC metro area, I second that, the same goes for Dunkin Donuts and their "bagels", a.k.a. rolls with holes

Yeah yeah. Mcdonald's is a very far cry from any "real" food, but it still hits the spot when you are in the mood

I liked it better with the steak strips, it was greasy but good.If you like steak and eggs, it was ok.

Fattybomatty: I will admit, once in awhile I do cave in and go get McDonald's, but I never get breakfast there, lunch/dinner, sure, but never breakfast. To each their own, but I could never really get excited about anything a FF place did @ breakfast time.

I happen to like mcdonald's breakfast and I think it is more mental than the actual taste. I remember my parents taking me there as a child on "special occasions" (aka we're in a rush to get to grandmas and don't have time to cook), but you had to get there before 11am (switched to 10:30. Infamous scene in Big daddy about it). So if I'm hungry and it's before 10:30 the mental switch goes on that I have to make it there before they stop serving breakfast. I wonder if anyone else feels the same or it's just me being retarded

I feel the same. Since I moved a block from Hardee's though I prefer their breakfasts. They have better sausage & biscuits. McD's has it over them though because they have either the fruit salad or parfait that you could have in addition to your breakfast sandwich.

I loved that scene in Big Daddy. We've all been there.
