Hi everyone, my name is Silvio and i own Meriden Supermarket in Meriden Ct. I would like to thank Hot Dog Gal for turning me onto this site. I had another customer visit me today and tell me that he found me thru this site. I do carry alot of Thumanns products and can get more as per your asking. Please feel free to visit us and mention this site and i will give you 20% off on any of Thumanns products. My phone # is 203-440-4389. I would also like to maybe one day have a free hot dog or any Thumanns products taste test in my store, although i already let customers sample any of the cold cuts in my deli case or hot food table for free. So please come in and visit us. Thanks.

Welcome to Roadfood.com. I love Thumanns products! Especially the hot dogs in the natural casing and the pork breakfast sausage links.

I may be wrong but, don't be surprised or annoyed if one of the administrators here moves your thread to a different forum category.

Hi Silvio. I think it's great that you are offering Thumann's hot dogs to the people in Connecticut. I know of a few people there who were frustrated because they have access to Thumann's meats, but not their hot dogs. I don't know why other retail stores and supermarkets don't sell them. It's a great dog. People loved them at Rosco's in Hartford.

I live in Jersey where Thumann's are plentiful. I like Hummel's also, but they are not in New Jersey except for a place called Garden of Eden. I'm happy that I can get this dog when I want it. Same goes for Wegmans supermarkets. They stock some fine hot dogs from upstate New York that otherwise aren't available in N.J.  Thanks and welcome to Roadfood.

I had a Thumanns for the first time in Florida of all places... I loved it.. It was huge...... Here is a photo of the one that I had..

Now that I am back in SC, I will have a hard time finding a decent dog again, and will have to resort to ordering online and getting raped for shipping!!!!

Do you know if it was the all beef or beef/pork version? To me this one looks like an all beef, which is very good, but Thumann's are known for their German style beef and pork dog in the blue and white package. Also the one pictured is skinless. The natural casing version is better.

    John,
I am sure it was all beef......
A new person bought the ice cream shop out and from what I heard is ceasing to sell Thumann products..
I have moved from the area, so I cant fill you in on all the details...
But I am 99 9/10% it was the all beef, as those are my favorite type dogs to eat.

I was amazed to read this morning that a new local butcher shop is carrying Thumann's products, including the hot dogs.  I'm going to have to check them out.

That's great, Don. Hopefully they will carry their beef/pork natural casing frank, which is what Thumann's is known for, although their beef dog is good also. The beef/pork dog comes in a blue and white package. Let us know what you think.

I finally picked up a package.  They are labeled Push Cart Style - Natural Casing Beef Frankfurters.  6 franks, about 14 oz.

    Any special NJ cooking suggestions?

Just grill them slowly,'til the casing starts to split and gets a nice color!

Having lived in New Jersey for nearly 30 years, I am a big fan of Thumann's Hot Dogs.  Now living in North Carolina and cannot find them. Please distribute through Kroger, Food Lion or Harris Teeter stores.

As I've said here and many other food blogs, Thumann's natural casing dogs are the best there are!
