Nice. I have St. Louis on my schedule for this fall, as well. I will definitely try to add Blue Owl to my destinations.

Banoffee Pie?  That's a new one on me.  What's in it?  More importantly, where can I get one?

BB:  I have had it in England several years ago.  Pretty good and unusual.

The Key Lime Pie didnt last very long.

The banoffee pie lasted until the kids figured out what it was and then POOF it was gone.  I saved some of the caramel for dipping granny smith apples this week.

Arrrgghhh! I'm sitting at the airport at the Rapid City airport at 5 am with nothing available but stale bagels. Opening this thread was not a good idea. Great pies!

I'm not a big dessert eater after a big meal, but sometimes I force myself. Ever since Hoosier Mama opened in Evanston my pie intake has definitely increased.

The day they opened, the maple pecan and apple.

The apple sour cherry.

Another maple pecan. I think she uses maple syrup. I know that her crusts are all butter.

Here is a flight of pies, available after 6 p.m. every night. Maple pecan, chocolate cream, apple sour cherry.

The perfect lunch. The biscuit special with a slice of maple pecan.

The pecan pie and ice cream at Allen and Son Chapel Hill.

The cherry cobbler at Lexington Barbecue, Lexington, North Carolina.

A couple or homemade pies which were really great, last Christmas.

Apple

Pecan, with the cherry off to the side

Davidsanders-
Thanks for the contributions to this thread!  You did such a nice job on the Smoque review, I hope you consider submitting one for Hoosier Mama, since you are obviously a big fan.

The thread has been bugging me for a while and I finally think I know what to do with it.  The plan is to tear the whole thing down and start over with a more organized approach.  Plus, I have at least 100 or more photos to add.

This is going to take a while, but it will be a labor love!

I think the original post in this thread works much better organized by state.  It does show which pies are regional and how different a pie can look region to region or state to state.  Over 200 photos have been added and I am less than 1/3 of the way done.

Great stuff CK!  Thanks so much for tacking on your photos.  The ones that jump out at me are the butterscotch at Arnold's and the lemon chess at Loving Pie Company.

Yes, they do look wonderful--what an assortment!  However, the cherry pie with slightly melted ice cream floored me.

I posted these photos elsewhere, but they belong here, since the "Slice of Pie" in Rolla, Missouri, has not been included, thus far in the annull of the RF Pie Recordings.
We stopped in to pick up a whole pie to take home with us, and get a couple of individual slices to sample our favorite flavors. We being my 17 yr old Grandson, Chris and myself. He got the Chocolate Creme, A very thick rich dark chocolate filling covered with a heavy layer of sweet whipped creme. I bought the Lemon Meringue.  My slice was tart but not overly sour, with a good lemon flavor and a sweet Meringue with a nicely browned top.
Here is a photo of the whole pie after we opened it---Cherry-Raspberry and Delicious is an understatment.

Then the two Slices-- Chocolate Creme and Lemon Meringue !

That are some beautiful shots of pie Al!  I have only been to Slice of Pie once, but loved everything I tried.

One word of caution about the "SLICE OF PIE" Don't expect it to be a bargain-priced dessert. The slices were just over $5.00 each, and the whole pies run between $21.50 and $24.00 depending on the particular flavor or 'special ingredients. An 8 piece Sample tray ( you select the 8 flavors) is available for $34.00 with advanced notice. That sounds like a perfect travel snack for me...It is a 6 hour ride back to Louisville, 8 pieces of Pie..You do the Math !!
Not being one to part with my food money easily, I still would drive a long way out of my way to return to SLICE OF PIE any time we are in Missouri again.

Jeeze, I had to hook up my insulin pump after looking (and lusting) at all the fantastic pictures of all the pies illustrated above and previous pages.
