To promote or to improve?

Since summer, Burger King has been running a customer comment deal. If you call the 800 number on your reciept and take a short survey, you are given a code number to write on your reciept. You can then turn it in for a free Whopper, if you buy a fries and a drink. There are coupons out there that give a free burger on the same terms without the survey.
Do you think that they care about the survey, or just want you to use the coupon and come back? They do say that you can only take the survey once a month. What do you think?

Having work for a survey company--id say they really use the stuff for marketing and product development--and any number of other things--if it was just a prom--its LOTS CHEAPER not to pay the survey folks---(labor-phone bills-etc) and just hand out coupons.

The survey is done by touchtone phone. Except for the survey designers and managers, ,,,no people. The do have a phone bill. Based on my own 800 number cost, it may cost them less than 10 cents a call.

yes but AFTER the info is put into the survey it is run through some sort of program that will give them a bunch of marketing info--some one has to MAKE sence of the results---THATS what cost the money---anyone can hand you numbers and stats---organizing them into a useful marketing plan is another. Corporations dont spend money if they dont get something back for it---if all they wanted was my butt in the door they would just make sure i got that coupon in the mailter they sent out stuffed in my weds, paper!

The Burger King on Versailles Road in Lexington seemed to close over night. It's now boarded up. I don't know what happened to it, as it was there for well over 20 years.
El Chico's does the same type of promo thing --- if you call in you get $5.00 off if you order two entrees.
