Today is National Frozen Food Day.

This is National Frozen Food Day. That's because on this day in 1930, the first frozen foods were put on sale in food stores. It bore the brand of the man credited with inventing the modern method of freezing food: Clarence Birdseye, whose work created the entire frozen-food industry. I'd say we paid a price in flavor there, but freezing did bring the price of food down while vastly improving the availability of certain edibles that would have been available only in season previously, or not at all

Today, the Frozen Food Market is a $28 BILLION dollar industry in the USA..
When you add in all the refrigeration equipment required to support the industry, like processing equipment, refrigerated trucks, freezers, etc who knows what the total value is.

    Love Swanson's frozen macaroni and cheese.
     
    Used to love Bavarian green beans that came with a spiced butter and spaetzle.  It was either Birdseye or Green Giant.  I guess it's been gone for many years, but I still look for it.

    Bridgford or Rhodes frozen bread dough. Always have some of that on hand.

    Bridgford or Rhodes frozen bread dough. Always have some of that on hand.

    My Bride uses the Rhodes rolls t make Monkey Bread.
    Put some rolls in a hi-side baking dish or crock.
    Let rise overnight
    MONKEY BREAD

    24 Frozen Rhodes Rolls (dinner rolls)
    1 cup brown sugar
    1 box butterscotch cook & serve dry pudding mix not instant
    1/4 cup sugar
    1 tsp cinnamon
    1 stick butter, (not margerine)
    pecans or walnuts, chopped, optional
    Right before going to bed, or 10 pm, sprinkle pecans or walnuts into a greased Bundt pan, (I use Pam cooking spray), then put 24 frozen Rhodes Rolls into pan. Mix brown sugar and dry pudding mix together and sprinkle over frozen rolls. Mix sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle on top of that. Melt butter and slowly pour over rolls in Bundt pan, trying to cover all of the sugar. Leave on counter overnight and when you get up, the rolls should have risen nicely and you will put Bundt pan on a cookie sheet in a preheated 350°F oven and bake for 30 minutes. Remove from oven and pour rolls upside down onto a large platter. Serve warm.

    Try that same thing and instead of the sweet stuff use...
     
    4 tablespoons butter  or olive oil
    2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
    2 tablespoons finely chopped rosemary
    1/4 cup shredded Parmesan Cheese
    Salt and Pepper
     
    Toss first and then put in the bundt pan and do the same thing.

    That sounds good too! Would be good with Italian food!
    QUESTION- Do you toss the rolls when they're still frozen or after they're thawed?
