Tommy's in Paris, TX Closed

Tommy's Bar-B-Que in Paris, TX is closed and has as a For Sale sign in the window as of late Oct. '07.

I have never been there before, but I thought the name sounded familiar. There was a Tommy's Bar-B-Que in Reno, Texas in JMS's old Eat Your Way Across the USA book. Since Paris and Reno are so close together, I assume this is the same place.

Too bad they closed up. Any idea why? Were they really good?

I had never been there. It was very favorably reviewed by the Sterns in the reviews under the Restaurants tab above. I was going to be passing through that area so I stopped by.

It was the same place. The review here on Roodfood gives the address as Paris but it seemed to be in Reno.

So I ended up eating at a bigger BBQ place in Paris I had passed by on the way to Tommy’s. The dining room was covered with Lazy J Ranch signs. That was not the name of the restaurant, but the Lazy J Ranch was the worm ranch owed by Bullwinkle on the Rocky show. The manager did not find it funny when I pointed that out to him.

Too bad about Tommy's. I would have tried to eat there on my Texas trip next year. Thanks for the info.

Couldn't find it when drove into town. Got a ticket, though. Watch for speed traps around Paris.
