Tony Luke's - Bistro Zinc - City of Brotherly Love (WITH PICTURES..FINALLY!)

Arrived in Philly around 1:00 PM and had no trouble finding parking at Tony Luke's.  There was a decent crowd (we took pictures..will follow up with them ASAP) waiting for their orders to be prepared; everything is cooked to order.

The sandwiches are huge and all around $7.00.  My wife ordered their Chicken Cheese Hoagie (it came with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, lots of good quality chicken and cheese on a fantastic hoagie roll.  I saw some guys eating fries.  They looked very good.  Not hand cut, but a good quality frozen fry none the less. I beleive the hoagie rolls came in bags from Liscio's.

I "thought" I ordered a cheesesteak, but I got a "cheesesteak hoagie" too.  It was very, very good none the less.  The meat was top shelf.  The roll is the star here though.  Very impressive.  JohnA..The roll is very very different and very, very good.
We had dinner at a really nice little French restaurant called Bistro Zinc.  Reasonable and really good.  We did not take any pictures..Sorry.  I had the steak and it came with really great deep fried leeks.  The potatoes were good and the steak perfectly cooked and very tender.  I'm guessing it was a Hanger steak...Could have been a skirt steak..Was definitely not a flank steak.

My Sister-in-Law had the Diver Scallops and they were terrific.  My wife had the half chicken roasted in garlic.  Also, perfectly prepared.  The two desserts we had were terrific.  A apple tart and a banana chocolate bread pudding.  With a glass of wine, the bill came to $100.00.  It is a really nice place and if you want a nice meal that I felt was very reasonable, you might want to give them a try.  The service was very, very good.

One last note - the people in Philly have been incredibly friendly and helpful with directions..Nothing is a bother to anyone we asked for help.  For us, it is indeed the City of Brotherly Love so far.  Cab drivers great, too.  Terrific Museum of Art..Really good!!!!

What's the difference between a cheesesteak and a cheesesteak hoagie?

A cheesesteak hoagie has lettuce, tomatoes, oil, and vinegar like a cold hoagie. A regular cheesesteak does not.

Sounds like you had a great day in Philadelphia. Zinc sounds like a really good find.   If you go back to Tony Luke's  you really should get the pork and rabe sandwich........................it is just the best!

Greymo - Did you try Dinic's also?  Just wondering.  I cannot imagine anything being better, but perhaps Tony Luke's version is.

    Anyone?

Ben,  Dimic's is wonderful but Tony Lukes is even better.............one of the top  five sandwiches that I have ever had.  My son always ordered the cheesesteak until he tried my pork one time  and that convinced him that it was indeed the best.

Hey guys. There's another really good Roast Pork that might even beat Tony Luke's. I know what your thinking better than Dinic's & Tony Luke's? Dang. It's a place in Conshocken, not far from center city on Fayette St. I will post the name later. I'm having roast pork brain freeze.

I'm glad you had a great day in Philly, Baah Ben. I was born and raised there and hearing about Tony Luke's made me homesick. And you're right...it surely is the City of Brotherly (and sisterly) love. :)
