Hey, a nice little Jewish kid from the Bronx,
who grew up to be Tony Curtis, the big
movie star, passed away yesterday.  He was 85.
Loved him as Marilyn Monroe's boyfriend who did
a great Cary Grant imitation in Some Like It Hot---
a very funny movie.  RIP Tony---we loved ya !!!

Being a kid from Brooklyn I like to see us NY kids do good.

One of the funniest-----thought the cast was perfect
who could be better than Jack Lemmon and his girl
      friend Joe E. Brown----well nobody's perfect.
      And for now---Goodbye Mr Chips

Am I missing something ?  Spartacus was Kirt Douglas.
What had Tony to do with him?

Dave----yes, I know he was in the movie  but he was not Spartacus.
The post above says "Spartacus is dead, long live Spartacus".
Did Tony Curtis say those words?  I don't know.

Yes, Tony did say, "I am Spartacus." It was in a scene when everyone said it in turn. That was in one of the highlights on the news today. I don't remember the details of that scene.

I first saw Tony in the Great Houdini movie.

The officials were trying to identify Sparticus in order to execute him for fomenting an uprising among the slaves, as I remember. All the slaves raised their hands and shouted "I am Spartacus"

I enjoy watching the old Gunsmoke and Have Gun, Will Travel on Encore Westerns. It's amazing to see the many famous actors and the young ones that later became very well known. Reading the credits is mandatory for me.

Famous actors (male & female) passing on are an ever increasing inevitability. Entertainment - movies, TV, music et cetera - became more and more prominent in our lives, and there are so many people we know through their work hitting their golden years.

Mac the Tac what a great list---I remember most of those people-----I always read all the credits on a web site after seeing an old movie---or if i can before---it is great to recognize someone just starting out--or occasionally someone just hanging on.

The other day I was watching an old black and white movie and tried to remember who was playing  one of the characters --- looked and sounded familiar, but I couldn't place him.  After the movie i looked it up and found his name and then googled it.  He died of a heart attack right after the final scenes were shot.  Wow it was like someone I knew had died.

A lot of the people you listed were never big, big stars but you saw them on TV in a million different parts for years and years---John Denier for instance---he was around for years and I loved him and hated him at the same time.

Glad to keep you busy, us Long Island guys gotta stick together.

                                          And------
Hello Mr Chips----all I can say is you have a lot going on on the top of your head.  It is great to have a memory like yours.  I once had a good memory but it has gotten bogged down with too much junk, and I often can't remember who I am, much less an actor.
