They did take a knee at the end!
OHHHH, you mean with 1:57 left. Well, considering Texas made a sizable comeback when Alabama was dogging it in the 3rd quarter, I didn't have a problem with that.
You can't tell players to stop playing in the National Championship. These guys want to pay for 60 minutes, not 58. Alabama ran running plays. It's not like they were chucking the ball downfield. They lined up for running plays - it was blantantly obvious that they were going to run the ball. Texas simply needed to make a stop and not let 'Bama get a first down. I think, if they stopped them a few times, time would've just ran out - because Alabama was not going to call time outs. I thikn their plan was to run a few plays to get enough 1st downs to get the play clock to a point where Texas couldn't stop it. At 1:57 left, Texas still had a time-out and a chance, if they wanted, to get the ball back, even if just for 15 seconds. It's not like Texas had shown they were willing to kneel on the ball.
no need to boo hoo 'Bama's final TD. Even AFTER that TD, Down by 16, Texas was still throwing the ball downfield trying to advance the ball. If Texas wanted the game to be over, they could've knelt on it themselves.
And, when Alabama intercepted a ball thrown downfield by Texas with under 30 seconds left in the game, Alabama did end the game by kneeling on the ball.
