Top Hat Burger/Roadfood Paintings Show Fri, 11/25/05 8:31 PM (permalink)
There is an art show this weekend with paintings of the Top Hat Burger Palace in Ventura, CA. A great place that I've written about here before------one of the few places I can get a real pork tenderloin sandwich. And coffee there is still $0.35 a cup! The show is at The Livery Art Gallery in Ventura. Here's a link to the artist-----look at the images he has of the paintings. Something any true roadfooder would love to hang in their home!

PS-----here's the newspaper article describing the history of the Top Hat and why it's in danger of being torn down. It's a typical roadfood story, one that many of hope doesn't come true. Let's keep the old places alive!

I ate at the Top Hat two summers ago. The food was great and the atmosphere was unbeleivable. It would be a tragedy to see that establishment disappear.

Good news so far! I went to Top Hat for Dinner Saturday. We ordered pork tenderloin sandwiches, burgers, fries and coffee. Nice to eat at a place where the conversation with the next customer was simple---"Hey Bill, the usual?". I saw the owner and one of the employees in back------he was making ground beef "meatballs" and she was running them thru a hand hamburger press. Food was great as always. Later, I caught the owner's granddaughter. She said for the time being, they are staying where they are. They're working on some ideas for different places but it looks like they'll still be at the same location for a while. Good news!
