FYI in choosing routes: I-80 across PA is a long stretch of nothing; I-81 through VA to meet I-40 in TN isn't much better.

Ah, but at Buckhorn there's a terrific truck stop -- the hot roast beef sandwich and the hot meatloaf sandwich (both open face) are terrific. Don't sit under the stuffed Nittany lion.

Since he's going to do the Civil War thing from NE enroute to Pittsburgh, I-80 probably isn't in play.  Just wanted to warn him anyway.

From Pittsburgh, Nashville via Columbus, Cincy, and L.vl is far more "interesting" food-wise - than a trip through the wonderous Shenandoah (where, frankly, I wish I still lived).

          Who is ChiTownDiner?
I google slugburger and found that Weeks' Diner in Booneville serves it.   Is that your 'while in Corinth' reference or does a joint in Corinth serve a slugberger, too?

If you come via Nashville you will be in the area for several civil war sites.

Stones River Battlefield & National Cemetery in Murfreesboro
and then west of Nashville between there and Memphis will be

Shiloh National Battlefield and Cemetery and Corinth.

There is some seriously good eats in and around Nashville and Memphis, and don't take ChiTownDiner's word, you have to try a SLUGBURGER while in Corinth, MS

Corinth, MS is the "Home" of the slugburgers.  There are several places around that prepare them.

ChiTownDiner just tried one and did not like it at all.
It is an acquired taste, a VERY acquired taste.

I have a thread in the where should I eat section asking about slugburger places.  I am headed that way today so there will be a thread about them coming soon also mid south pie shops and Nashville burger places too.

I like the song. I'd like to try a Slugburger.
