Tough weather in the south

I know Alabama had a very serious issue but nothing brings it closer to home as when it occurs to you. We have had serious weather on my street this past week. Monday night a terrible storm hit and we lost power for a week. Wednesday night it returned with a vengence. We had four rounds of storms all in purple on radar. At 9:00PM, I was outside trying to retrive my gas grill from being blown on the deck due to the intense wind and huge hail and rain. The hail stacked on my deck five inches thick. The wind was so hard that it was blowing water from the Tennessee River on my deck which is 12 feet higher that the water level. I heard a noise that sounded like a freight train and I retreated to shelter in my home behind a glass of Chablis. It has been confired that a F1 hit my street and neighborhood. ... An EF-1 tornado confirmed in Knoxville TN... A storm survey team from the National Weather Service has completed an assessment of the damage that occurred Wednesday evening in Knox County Tennessee. The event occurred around 900 PM EDT in Knoxville TN. The tornado reached an intensity of EF-1... and was approximately 1 mile long and 50 yards wide. The track of the tornado began near the intersection of old settlers trail and Lakemoor Dr SW and ended around the area of Wye way Lane and River Oak Dr. The storm survey was conducted by: Howard Waldron, retired meteorologist with the Morristown Tennessee National Weather Service office. As soon as I heard Alabama and storms I was on the phone with my friend in Fairhope. I pictured it being like when the hurricanes hit the area again. Instead, it turned out he was having a nice day down in Orange Beach on the Inter-Coastal Waterway. It just amazes me that the weather can be so radically different in just a few hundred miles. Good to hear that you are OK from it, Paul.

Paul Glad there wasnt more damage than you had. The area there around Cullman is just destroyed. I have several people there in that area that are now without anything, but are thankful they have their lives. Has been a strange month weather wise. I am glad you are ok!!
