Trader Joe's Dark Chocolate Pistachios

We found these last week in Charlotte, NC and are hooked for life...or until TJ's stops carrying them, whichever comes first. If you haven't tried these "crunchy, flavorful toffeed pistachio nuts individually coated with rich dark chocolate [from front of the 10 oz. container]," then you simply must. One caveat: they're devilishly addictive!

Hey Chris, I haven't tried those, but the TJs here in NYC has dark chocolate covered toffee with pistachios and it's like nothing I've ever had. I usually buy one "public" tub that my girlfriend knows about and one "private" tub that I stash for a chocolate fix. Are the ones you're referring to individual nuts or are they squares?

They are actually 2 different items--both of which we have tried and agree are delicious. The toffee is in big chunks, whereas the pistachios are individual nuts covered in toffee and dark chocolate. The pistachios may be even more deadly though, due to the ease with which you can pop one or two or ten!

Okay Billyboy, here's a question: I just finished the last toffee chunk, so do you have any suggestions on what to do with the 1/2" of loose pistachios left in the toffee container?

Hey Chris, I've had that "problem" many times! hehe I usually just eat them straight from the tub or I'll pour them over ice cream as a topper.

Billy, I had a "gut" feeling that you'd suggest ice cream! Here's another recent addiction: TJ's Dark Chocolate Stars (dark chocolate-covered shortbread cookies with white nonpareil sprinkles). Smartly, they had a wall of them at the end of an aisle as I walked by -- couldn't resist.

Chris, do they look anything like this?

A close up of the TJs toffee in the container. Love those pistachios!

My tub of toffee. This disappeared very quickly. I forgot to but some ice cream to go with the remnants at the bottom.

Close up of the toffee broken open. It was good, but for some reason the toffee inside this time tasted somewhat sugary. It usually has a nice dark, almost burnt toffee flavor to it. I hope this was just an aberration.

Another shot of the toffee. I find that staging food on a cutting board works well as it's a neutral color on the focus stays on the food. I like the serving dish, but maybe not the best for photos as the flash tends to get in the way.

    Another shot of the toffee.
