I second the votes for Roscoes House of Chicken and Waffles in L.A., and PRINCES Hot Chicken in Nashville!

That photo is attributed to someone else. Curious as to who it might be.

Hmmm, I hope you get a dollar every time someone clicks on that picture! Does ETR work for Travel&Leisure?

buffetbuster, in case you want to pursue this further: This is T+L's home page: http://www.travelandleisure.com/ They seem to be part of American Express Publishing Corporation. On their "Contact Us" page they have the following: "Photography Submissions Photography portfolios may be sent to: Travel + Leisure Magazine Photo Deptartment 1120 Avenue of the Americas, 10th Floor New York, NY 10036 212-382-5600 If mailing a portfolio, include a self-addressed stamped package for its safe return. You may also send it by messenger Monday through Friday between 11 A.M. and 5 P.M. We accept work in book form exclusively—no transparencies, loose prints, nor scans on cd, disk or email. Send Xerox copies or photo prints, not originals, as we are not responsible for lost or damaged images in unsolicited portfolios. We do not meet with photographers if we haven't seen their book. However, please include a promo card in your portfolio with contact information, so we may get in touch with you if necessary."

About that Hollyhock House photo, the credit indicates to me the photo was supplied by the restaurant to the magazine. I have noticed that a lot of the photos found in free media are supplied by the establishments being featured. There are even some NYC restaurant websites that offer to email press kits (including photos) to the media.

I really didn't intend to get this thread off course. My apologies to the OP. So, where is Stroud's and Bon Ton Mini Mart? These places would be #1 and #1A on my list.

Not to mention the Castle Cafe in Castle Rock, CO. I had some terrific pan-fried chicken there last Tuesday, as well as at their sister restaurant, the Rocky Mountain Diner, in Denver, last Thursday. Less memorable, though still good, was the fried chicken at Steubens, also in Denver, last Wednesday. (Pan-fried chicken three days in a row, and I wasn't even in Kentucky!) But speaking of Kentucky -- what about Beaumont Inn in Harrodsburg, KY? Science Hill Inn in Shelbyville, KY? I adore Hollyhock Hill, and always will, but I agree that Strouds should be on that list, too.
