Traveling - Service Clubs

As a member of many "service" and "veteran" clubs, I have found that when I travel, I can often find a great home cooked meal for a really low price (not to mention the good company) at clubs such as VFW, AMVETS, American Legion, Eagles, Moose, Elks, etc. However, the quality and even availability of food is haphazard. Anyone have any good suggestions of the VERY BEST such ROADFOOD?

In Medfield Ma the Legion has a killer bar with a good hot dog and a good burger, open for lunches 6 days a week. Alot of the folks in construction gather for lunch there often. Say hi to Al---the bartender. My brother Brian worked there for yrs in the evenings and weekends--i think they use Essum natual casing dogs and they come on top split toasted buns of course!!!--have em grill the dogs crispy! They sometimes have potato salad but usually lunch comes with chips. And any event at the AmVets in Millis that has food is usually well worth attending---also in Millis is the Boggostow Fish and Game--a private club bit they do ALOT of food events and all are welcome-including a yearly stag clambake that folks fight over the limited amount of tickets, a bean pot dinner with a bonfire for families in the fall-and usually some kind of benefit or other every month --great folks--killer food!
