Tribute Wall for Alzheimers Patients.. Wed, 09/13/06 1:25 PM (permalink)
I took care of my mother for 7 years while she was afflicted with that terrible disease, Alzheimers--
She passed away in December 2004, afterwards, I found this website, thru Leeza's place.
It is a tribute/moving wall where you can post a message, a photo, any memories that you would like.
The wall ends in October, but if anyone who has had dealings with a loved one is welcome to submit their own tribute.
Here is the link:
It is sponsored by State Farm Ins, and Leeza's place.
In case you didnt know, both Leeza's mother and grandmother had this illness.

Hey roossy90, I'm sorry about your mom. My thoughts go out to you. I just looked at the link. Very nice. My grandmother just passed away on Sunday after battling with Alzheimer's for almost 15 years. It was hard on everybody. My mom and her two brothers still live in the same small town they grew up in and my one uncle lived at home with my grandmother until she finally had to go into a nursing home. They were all fantastic with her and shared the responsibilities, but it was hard for all of them to watch her still be alive, yet slipping away each day. I got to speak at her service today and am realizing with each day how much of an influence she was on me and how many of her qualities are a part of me to this day.

I lost my Mom to Alzheimer's when she was 50 and I 25. After her mind was gone it took the body almost 20 years to follow. It is a very cruel disease to both the person and to the family.

Billyboy, my heart goes out to you and your family. I'm so sorry.

My Aunt Carolyn has been in a nursing home since she was 50, around 13 years now. She hasn't known us in about that many years and it's heartbreaking. I miss her being her very much.

My heartfelt sympathies to both of you.
The Tribute wall is a good place to voice your loving memories of them.
Sometimes it's hard to express yourself, and this is a great way to show it.
