Thanks. We will print up some one 2"x4" stick-on labels. When we made them for the Crabthing, we used heavier stock and clip-on holders and they seemed pretty 'clumsey'. While some feel it is 'over-organizing a bit, when we get to a group of 35 or so, I need to see a name to put with the face when I meet them for the first few times! That's a sure sign of age, but it works for me!

That reminds me of a H.S.Prom I chaperoned in the late 90's in SoCal. A group of my students invited my wife and I to join them for a 'Pre-Prom' dinner. They decided to got to a TGIFridays not far from the location of the Prom. Lots of Steaks and chicken were ordered by most of the group of about 24 (all decked out for the Prom), except two couples who ordered slabs of ribs and BBQ Plates. Both the boys in the foursome were in White Tux jackets.... getting the picture? The girls were seriously P.O.'d when the BBQ sauce spills were big enough to ruin the next step in the evening...the formal photos!!

NO, The February event will definitely not be formal. At least the Saturday session will be as casual as we can make it allowing for the weather! Bushie claims to have a Flannel Hawaiian Shirt ready to wear, and insulated flip-flops! We have only one rule for participants in the Moonlite Buffet---KEEP ONE FOOT ON THE FLOOR WHILE YOU EAT!!

I would assume that those going to theBrown Hotel for the HOT BROWN's on Friday may be a bit more 'attired', Not Jacket and Tie, but shirts and shoes would be suggested. Name Tags will be available for the Friday session Also....strictly as an 'assist' for your short-memory lacking Mayor.

Count me in at the Brown Hotel for the hot browns. I will certainly have no tie on.

I am currently in Memphis. I stayed a day later in Little Rock so I could stop at Hays in Lexington on Friday morning. I think they open at 10:AM I definately will say hello to Dennis from the Glee Club although I will not tell him that we elected tol do Moonlite this year I love the guy and I think it would hurt his feelings.


I got a long drive back to Knoxville in the morning. The stop at Hays will certainly improve the day.

For those considering the Friday evening"Hot Brown" Dinner in Louisville I thought it might be nice to post a photo of the famous menu item. Thanks to T J in Cincinnati for shooting this during his fairly recent visit to Derby City's Brown Hotel.
This does look mighty good for a friday night supper!

Less than a month to go! My next task is to figure out how to actually use my new digital camera so we can be imortalized in pixels! I've got plenty of maps from y'all and from AAA so maybe this time I won't get lost!

Wow! doesn't that Hot Brown look DELISH! Does it have ham or turkey under the cheese sauce? The ones I've had at Dwarf House had chicken (of course), but I couldn't tell from the picture if there was meat other than the bacon. Either way will be fine with me. Can never get too much gooey cheese sauce and bacon in my book!

Hot Brown Recipe

Ingredients

4 oz. Butter
Flour to make a Roux (about 6 tablespoons)
3 – 3 ½ cups Milk
1 Beaten Egg
6 tablespoons Grated Parmesan Cheese
1 oz. Whipped Cream (optional)
Salt and Pepper to Taste
Slices of Roast Turkey
8-12 Slices of Toast (may be trimmed)
Extra Parmesan for Topping
8-12 Strips of Fried Bacon

Melt butter and add enough flour to make a reasonably thick roux (enough to absorb all of the butter). Add milk and Parmesan cheese. Add egg to thicken sauce, but do not allow sauce to boil. Remove from heat. Fold in whipped cream. Add salt and pepper to taste.

For each Hot Brown, place two slices of toast on a metal (or flameproof) dish. Cover the toast with a liberal amount of turkey. Pour a generous amount of sauce over the turkey and toast. Sprinkle with additional Parmesan cheese. Place entire dish under a broiler until the sauce is speckled brown and bubbly. Remove from broiler, cross two pieces of bacon on top, and serve immediately.

Very Funny! HAR HAR! I have the world's largest collection of undeveloped 35 mm film! So my family finally bought me a digital camera so they have some small hope of actually seeing some of the pictures I've taken. It's so dark inside those little yellow canisters...

Mrs One-Iron (Deb) is an artist with her digital camera...and the Mayor dabbles in the art also with his Canon Digital. We will put together an album from everyone's contributions to the 'photo pool' for attendees and mail it out ASAP after the ceremonies. All Cameras are encouraged!! I can't wait to see what Poverty Pete wears. Probably his typical bush jacket with a bow tie. It would not supprise me if he does not show up in bush shorts also.

Bushie on the other hand will have a tropical shirt with a Hawaiian string of flowers around his neck and probably sandals.

Considering the location of the BBQ Session, I will have to choose which of my MOONLITE BBQ Tee-Shirts has the fewest sauce-stains!

We are discussing (off-line)the best way to get the photos out to the group. If we do it at the site, then the photo's will be unedited and the sauce-stains will all be there...If we get them home and photoshop them, the sauce stains and 45 oz Margarita glasses won't be visible!! Oh that was the Nashville Dionner---Sorry Bushie!

My famliy ate at Moonlite last night. Man-Oh-Man, is their food GOOD. Please excuse my children. I keep telling them that the Salad Bar is for rookies, cole slaw and pickles are the exceptions. Their Friday night spread was huge, the Kentucky Ale was OK and I even found room for a small sliver of Moonlite Delight pie, with soft serve ICE CREAM.

Nice report AD. I am sure that all that attend will have the same experience. I am glad that "The Mayor" suggested this wonderful huge place with such excellent selections.

I am not sure what the exact count will be in attendance but the Mayor feels that in excess of 30 will show. If the Friday tune up at the Brown hotel is any indication, Saturdays attendance will be larger than expected. One thing in its favor is that it is much closer to our Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky and other states that contain our roadfood friends.

I have only been there once and I had the pulled pork sandwich and mutton sandwich. I have to admit the pulled pork was much more satisfactory to my personal taste. I guess mutton is a acquired taste that many will want to experience.

Looking forward to the door prizes and the trip.

I tried to get a room at the Galt House but it was fully booked. I will have to look around a bit. Perhaps Marriott has a facility close to the Brown Hotel.

I will drive to Nashville Saturday evening to watch the Daytona 500 with my brother who is visiting his daughter who is attending school in Nashville. I will be staying at the Embassey Suite while there.
