Truck build in Indy

Hey all. I have been reading all the great threads on the trucks that are being built. I am building one here in Indy and will post pics as soon as I can figure out how to. It has been a trial by fire but it is coming along. I have gotten loads of great ideas and information from RF.com and it has saved me from lots of headaches so I thank you all for the great info and pictures.

What are the dimensions of the cargo area(kitchen)? Are you going to leave the generator where it is?

It's 8x5. Pretty tight but will make it work. I'm serving a cheese steak sandwich out of the truck so I won't need a lot of equipment. I will be working it alone so I will have plenty of room to move around. Thanks Dr. BBQ for getting the pics up.

Challenger Door in Northern Indiana. Nice work. The only thing I didn't take into consideration was the aluminum frame around the window. I measured the rough opening (what I was told to do by C Door) but didn't think about the frame, so I had to move the window down and over abit to make it fit right. So measure, then think about it and measure and think about it before you order. Not gonna polish but down the road gonna replace it with new.

A little more progress on the truck. Got my power all hooked up and all outlets are good to go. Counters are getting there and maybe tomorrow lay down the floor. I am using the checker vinyl sheets and I will put that on the walls and the counter tops too.

Not sure of the measurement right at the moment but the stool that you see in some of the photos is what I am working off of. I am 6-2 and can't stand up without bumping my head but had that in mind all along. My work area is perfect. Money in one side of the window and the product out the other. It is tight but it's just a turn of the seat and I am working and another turn to the window.

Indy, i remember first seeing your van over on the H.A.M.B., i think before i ever saw it here.... i love these old step vans, even without the food truck aspects taken into consideration..... and you have done pure justice to your build, something that everyone, no matter what their reasons for checking it out will admire and appreciate :) JOB WELL DONE !

Thanks for all the kind words. I am not officially in biz yet getting the commissary and the HD stuff all taken care of. Maybe in a couple of weeks. I saw this truck and fell in luv right away and it just played into the whole theme I was going with. Lot of long hours working/thinking and reworking and rethinking. It has turned out real nice. Twitter is [link=mailto:BK@Indycheez]BK@Indycheez[/link] See ya out on the road.

What commissary did you end up choosing? Do you park your truck there at the end of the day?

I thought Indiana had child labor laws?? That is a nice set up! I love the checkered vinyl and the logo. It stands out. How do you think the vinyl will hold up? Did you buy extra so the colors will match when it needs replaced in the future. Ok you have had a month to work out the details inquiring minds want to WHAT'S UP ???? Hopefully you are working your arse off and too busy to post!
