First off Sues, I recommend you do away with the term "Homemade" and substitute "Hand Crafted". No commercial establishment can really sell homemade stuff. However, if you are making these cakes in a "Commercial Kitchen" then they can. You obviously think your cakes are good enough to sell, I recommend you get out there and sell them. Go to some restaurants that you think might like them. Consider how many slices you get out of each cake. And how much you need to make them (your cost + time + a bit for yourself) and present the product thusly. Most restaurants won't pay much more than 25-30% food cost on these type of products. That means if they buy the cake for $10 they will need to be able to sell it for somewhere around $40. Can they get $4 for 10 slices? Or $3 for 14. Something like that. If you don't feel like selling them yourself, you could probably find an agent. I'm not exactly sure how to do that but I know they exist. Perhaps someone here can fill us in on that a bit. I have a cheesecake business and have done a small restaurant trade for a couple of years now. Gotta tell you nothing makes me more proud than to see these guys sell my stuff for $7 a slice. Good luck.
