Trying to track down a Dusseldorf Mustard in NJ Wed, 12/1/04 3:25 PM (permalink)
Greetings!!

I am on a mission from a co-worker of my fiances father (aka brownie points) - I have to track down "Dusseldorf Mustard" that is available only in NJ. I thought that was a type of mustard, not a brand, but perhaps some of the food guru's here can tell me if it exists, and then where I can get some!

Thank you very much for your help!

Sean

    Sean:

    Go to:

http//www.mustardmuseum.com and you should find it. Good luck and good luck with those "brownie points".

        Hi BakersBoy

Thanks for the link - I looked around there - and found lots of Dusseldorf available in Germany, but none in NJ. The search continues!!

        Thanks again.

The mustardmuseum sells at least 3 brand of Dusseldorf mustard. Order it from there. I did a product search on Dusseldorf.

There are 2 brands of Dusseldorf style mustard that I'm familiar with. One is Thumann's, which is sold in certain supermarkets. It's hard to find, but available in any Kings. The other is sold by food service distributors to hot dog restaurants. It's a very good mustard called Baker's Gold. This is the mustard that is served at the Galloping Hill Inn in Union and Rutt's Hut in Clifton. It's very hard to get, but I did find one place that sells to the public. It is a Sabrett distributor in Sayreville. I forget the name, but it is located on Bordentown Ave. or Rd. in Sayreville.

One Dusseldorf style mustard I've seen around in NJ supermarkets is (I think its called) Inglehoffer. They make several different styles, one of which is Dusseldorf. In case I don't have the brand name exactly right, the jars are distinctive, they are small round jars about maybe 2 inches round by two inches wide. If they have them, you can't miss them. ---Ken
