Tuesday's or Friday's

We just tried the new Ruby Tuesday's in town tonight..and the four of us enjoyed what we ordered...and loved our service...and the craft beer choices! We have TWO TGI Friday's within 5 miles and have enjoyed meals at both...decent(not great) food at a good price..and family friendly. The decor at Tuesday's reminded us of a New York Hotel restaurant...I don't know why...maybe those large lights. The menu at Tuesday's was smaller...but my wife enjoyed the various sauces on the tender baby backs...and the salad bar was clean and decent...and at $2.99 a delicious opening course. Tuesday's we decided was different from Friday's..but a welcome addition to simple family dining in our area. We'll go to both...but Tuesday's and Friday's are as different as...well, tuesday and friday... Do you have a preference, like both..or hate both?

We like both. My partner is vegetarian who eats fish and can find good things at each, especially Friday's salmon dishes. The Friday's is just down the road, the only 2 Tuesday's are about 15 miles away in opposite directions.

Ruby Tuesday's has tried to upscale their restaurants. The guys who started Ruby's are two UT boys that have done well. Ruby's has a great salad bar and they are getting a bit pricey but their food is very good in my opinion. Another factor is try to upscale in this economy is not a very good idea. Paul E. I think there are some chains, such as Cracker Barrel or 5 Guys burgers, that have some attributes of road food. Friday's or Tuesday's, however, are about as far away from road food as you can get. Now, putting aside whether those places are road food or not, I would say Friday's is really bad and Tuesdays is passable.

It's been a lot of years since I last was in a TGIFriday's, but as I recall it was not much more than a meat market.

When I first went to a Ruby Tuesday's somewhere circa 1988, I enjoyed the food, the salad bar was excellent. My last visit, about 4 years ago after an MS Walk, the food was terrible. Except for the burger. They still do an alright job with their burgers. My first visit to a Friday's, was also circa 1988. And it was good, but not as good as Tuesdays. However, my last visit to a Friday's was two years ago after a concert. The entrees at Friday's are decidedly better, but the burgers aren't as good, and Friday's doesn't have the salad bar (which, matters only to some). The service I had a Friday's was better. Overall, Ruby Tuesday's, TGIFriday's, and Applebees are all great for Happy Hour. Alcohol tastes the same anywhere. They all have some very fun signature drinks, and their appetizers (at 1/2 price happy hour prices) are perfect for a large group of Happy Hour minded people. The bartender at any of these restaurants are always friendly, and offer good service. Even if the waitstaff stinks, the bartenders seem to do a good job keeping things in order and customers happy at the bar.

I eat at both since they are close to my house. I prefer Fridays atmosphere to actually go to, but I prefer the food at ruby tuesdays. Fridays appetizers, chicken fingers, breadsticks, burgers, and some of the sandwiches are what i usually eat when I'm there. I've ventured to some of the meals and I am usually disappointed. Ruby tuesdays apps are ok, but nothing special. Their sliders and burgers are pretty good. Better than fridays and I have ventured to a meal or two which have been pretty decent. Also, the salad bar is a nice addition. Usually, I'll order take out from ruby tuesdays but go out to fridays for food and drinks.

I've never been to Tuesday's, I've been to TGI Friday's twice in Vermont and could not find fault with both visits, the service was friendly and quick and we enjoyed our food! Didn't cost a fortune either! Chains can be a hit or a miss depending on location in my opinion! We don't have any TGI Friday's in Northern Ireland yet, but one is scheduled to open soon in Belfast, so we'll probably test it out to see if its up to scratch!

Well no, you didn't "exactly" say that, but that was my interpretation of what you said. If that's not what you meant to say.........never mind.

I stopped for lunch a few weeks ago at Ruby Tuesday's in Shelbyville. The hamburger was sort of possibly ok, but the salad bar was fresh and quite pleasing. "I'll gladly pay you Tuesday's for a GOOD hamburger today!"

I prefer Friday's to Ruby Tuesday's --- they used to have a great Chicken Fajita salad which I'm sure packed a bazillion calories but it was oh so good. Then, they changed it and it was a mere shadow of its former self. Andrea

I used to prefer TGIF for the longest time and we used to swear by their turkey burgers and blackened chicken alfredo. The quality of these items have gone donwqn hill and we alwyas used to associate Tuesday with "Mall Food Court" stuff. HOwever, we tried a tuesday about a year ago and had their signature burgers. It was great. And they had the salad bar to boot....We now visit Tuesdays and haven't been to TGIF in years.

I remember being in the first TGI Fridays to open in the Columbus area back in the '80s. It was located next door to an apartment complex named Fox & Hounds, and that name was appropriate. Come happy hour the foxes and the hounds would gather in the bar area and learn how to spell liaison together while buying drinks four at a time.

Michael The Friday's on Hurstborne Parkway in Louisville was cut from the same pattern. Plenty of nibble food out during happy hour and a number of nearby "Xerox and IBM" business buildings full of mini-skirts and white shirt and tie types playing tag around the Bar. This was in the early 1980's when these behaviors were considered the 'way to climb' in the business world.

I see that location, as always, plays a big part in one's perception of a chain...Rest assured every TGI Fridays I've visited with my family in our area has been a wholesome family environment...even at lunch, there was no picking up at either Friday's in our area...so it's not the place..it's the people who frequent it...if a place called "Joe's Joint" were there in it's place, and handy for corporate lunch time...we'd be finding fault with "Joe's Joint"!!!

I remember when TGIF first opened in the Miami area, that was THE place to go to try to "hook-up"... I am sure things have changed in those 28 years, with the advent of "martini" bars and such. I think the last time I ate in one, was a few months ago, and it was ONLY because a good customer gave me a gift card, then, once in 1999, and the time before that is mid 1980's. I am not a big TGIF fan at all. I would rather eat at RT.

Out of chain restaurants Fridays has one of the better happy hours. That's why it'd be more of a meat market in an area with a lack of other good bars. I know the one in my town has a ladies night and everything

Last time in a Friday's the food was laughably lousy, the service worse, I like the local RT, got good sliders, prime burgers and the salad bar is darn good, multi flavored iced teas, lemonades, good service.
